Being Emo as a choice, perhaps not. But you also have to realize nobody lives the same life and everybody's experiences are different and it is different in the way their brain accepts these experiences. There are people out there that are Truly Emo and it is not a choice, it is just who they are as a person. It is hard for these people to act like they care about something they do not. But, it is equally difficult for them to hide how they feel when they feel passionately about someone or something. It is OK to be Emo in this way. If you have to ask if you are Emo... then your not...

I don't see why not. I remember a classmate who was emo. No problem with that. She had a boyfriend but he was not emo. He was an old school cowboy type. Wore long boots, had long hair. They looked very happy together.

Being “emo” isn’t about being truly sad. It’s about having such a horrific lack of individuality and emotional depth you don’t understand what pain feels like so you just regurgitate the shit other “sad” people did and pretend you’re depressed so you can feel special or something but you don’t have enough guts to be truly authentic or honest about whatever real pain you have because that wouldn’t be as fun would it?

I'm an emo 29 year old male, wouldn't be able to tell it by looking at me but only sometimes i find a certain comfort in sadness othertimes im on the other end of the spectrum happy as hell, emo fashion is attractive on a female I'd say my style is more of colorful punk rock goth and a splash of hip hop head, weird sounding but be who YOU want find the comfort in your darkness just dont let it end you whatever people think about how you look in a negative way,.. don't let it matter to you 🤘

doesn't get into street drugs / alcohol i feel things are
