Since I'm not interested in a trendy badge, not very impressed with their designs, I'm not sure Tesla currently has anything to offer me.
Currently, electric is exciting but limiting. Hydrogen may ultimately be the future but this is slow to take off.
However, tesla are working on cheaper, cobalt reduced batteries. If they succeed, this may herald a different price point.00 Reply

+1 yhonestly if i had the big money i'd do it for the novelty...
but if you're not a rich motherfucker that can buy a tesla every other year and you look at your car as a "tool" that's supposed to transport you from A to B for a long time, that's a hard nope.
i mean generally it's a bad idea to have products that are in their infancy state as a tool you "rely" on. and then also i don't see the longevity and the ecologic aspect of it being a pro at all. the batteries won't hold up a long time, spare parts cost a fortune and without ecologic energy production, that car is as "green" as a coal roller.13 Reply- +1 y
I ran the costs and it would be run about the same as my current car. Tax rebates, and what you save in gas makes a dramatic difference. While Tesla innovation is on the rise, the model 3 has been out and has performed well for several years. The batteries last up to 300,000 - 400,000 miles.

I get the feeling you have not considered spare part cost. Have you seen what insane prices you pay for stuff like tires? Can't even get them at normal vendors
- +1 y
Yeah I calculated $298 a year.
+1 yTrue story there is a band that is called Tesla that has been around since the 80s. I was at a fast food restaurant, I was wearing a tour shirt and this older woman walks up and starts talking about the car. She was all excited about the company and Elon Musk. She exclaimed that she was saving her money and to buy one. I didn't have to heart to tell her it was an 80s band that is well known. Obviously, not so well known to her.

But, no I would not buy one. I don't like to buy something because the masses like something.
- +1 y
That’s hilarious ahah

I work in the engineering field, and the technology is extremely impressive to me. Also, having it drive itself is pretty nice.
Any updates?
Teslas are pretty cool but I’m more of a Corvette gal00 Reply

00 Reply842 opinions shared on Other topic. No please don't, it's probably one of the shadiest companies, not to mention you're not getting any greener doing an electric car over a gasoline one, usually oil powers your electric it's all coming from the original source

+1 yNo, I rather buy me 2 cars and other useful things that can benefit me in the long run.
20 ReplyNo, because the distances that I travel are greater than the range of an electric vehicle.
There is also the matter of cost.10 Reply- 3.1K opinions shared on Other topic.
+1 yHell no. Beyond the outrageous price tag and proprietary charging cables/stations.. It's just really pretentious.

For the technology you’re getting, it’s fairly priced.
- +1 y
What technology?

Are you actually unaware of Tesla's technological advances, or is your opinion just underplaying it?
- +1 y
Enlighten me.
- +1 y
Their battery development is about 5 years ahead of the competition for starters.
- +1 y
Wow! Battery development! I'll head out and buy one now!
- +1 y
If you saw the most recent battery day, they're going to be producing a newer and cheaper battery with longer range which would give the ability for them to offer a $25,000 Tesla. As soon as the price is the same as normal gasoline operated vehicles, it will surely take over.
- +1 y
The autonomous driving capabilities. The UX design and the interface... I mean, they're ahead of their competition in every way. To claim they're lacking in technological progress doesn't make sense at all.
- +1 y
Would you buy it if the car had a shelf life of a million miles? That's what's coming to the market and what battery advancements mean.
- +1 y
LOL! 25,000 is basically any mid range car after being a rental for 2 years or leased for 3!
- +1 y
Yes, only this car is much cheaper to maintain considering you don't have to pay for gas, it will last 5x longer, and it also drives itself. Why would anyone by a corolla at that point?
- +1 y
I'm not trying to sell you on a Tesla, but denying the technology is ridiculous lol. I work as a Mechanical Engineer designing actuated valves for big pharma. Having said that, I can understand the technology behind what goes into this. It's extremely impressive.

Hey, I bought light bulbs that promised to last 13 years.. Replaced 2 of them a year and a half in. Small example, but don't buy into the bullshit.
- +1 y
It's backed by science, miles, and rigorous tests. I rather approach purchases with logical reasoning rather than vague old adage. The complexity of a car that is soon to pioneer the market over the internal combustion engine doesn't compare to the complexity of a light bulb.

You've blinded me with science! Big oil's not gonna be happy..

+1 yI love the idea of Tesla. Elon Musk is a visionary and a game changer. Which model are you thinking about?

Model 3 has my interest. I’m heavily invested into Tesla. Love what they are doing. Robo taxis will be coming soon enough.

Mine's a Ford.

@CaptainSmartass I have a Corolla and a Fortuner :)
They are good but I prefer a Chinese over a Toyota as Chinese vehicles come loaded with features. Japanese launch literally no frills models in my country. Suzuki has been selling a 40 years old Pickup and van and a small by name of Mehran. You would be appalled😂
It does not make any financial sense to me to buy Tesla.

@not_average Electric can suck for long distances given its slower "fueling" (ie. charging) time. Or imagine forgetting to charge it one day or something. I don't know, I doubt it can really replace oil and gas. It's eco-friendly, sure, but it's slow charge time and that's more likely to cause issues when you've adapted to fuel which only takes about a minutes to charge.
Nope. Thrres way better electric cars than a tesla
