I want to own a Tesla because they are genuinely the bad cost-effective electric car.
I will not own a Tesla because:
I don't want it to be totaled from a collision which I would fix myself but would be forced to goto a certified Tesla repair specialist who'll price gouge me for their services.
See above but add in parts shortages and no way to buy parts without being a specialist.
Record low Quality control is still an issue in new models.
I don't like the idea that they can disable features on my car on a whim via remote software update.
I stand firmly against the blacklisting of reclaimed or salvaged Teslas. This is overreaching and is only legal because they force you to accept their TOS before driving the car.
I suspect that rising energy costs with zero out the lower costs associated with electric cars within the next 5-10 years.
I suspect there will be an unforeseen environmental impact of electric cars which will radically change ownership responsibilities.
Thank you for the last two points, the final one in particular. So many never seem to think about the "hidden" costs- financial and environmental- of so-called "emission-free" products. Somewhere along the line, emissions HAVE been, well, emitted! :- ).
I've ridden in one once, and while the lack of needing gas is nice, and I STRONGLY approve that all of them have their charge ports in the same place (I still can't fathom why gas door positioning hasn't been standardized to one side or the other), I have serious issues with the degree of tracking equipment in one of those things. I can hop in my car and drive for two hours and NOBODY knows where I am. A Tesla can't do that.
I've lately been coming across a lot of horror stories about those cars.

I would like to own one only after it has been shown that they last 20 or more years with minimal maintenance.

They're hideous cars that aren't fun to drive, and the company is very crooked.
They're not at the bottom of my list, but I don't think they'd even be in the top 50%... That *could* change but based on what the auto industry is looking like right now, that's more likely to happen because of other companies shooting themselves in the foot (repeatedly) than Tesla becoming more appealing on its own.
They also have a stigma attached to them that they're electric cars for virtue-signaling rich people who don't actually have any appreciation for cars OR the environment, but want others to think they do. Out of the probably ~20 people I've talked to that have them, I'd say that's accurate at least 80% of the time.
I did a test-drive once. It is nice, pretty revolutionary for the industry, the specs are pretty slick and the tech is unbelievable. Would i like to own one? No thanks, not even if i get it for free, i have my reasons, might sound stupid and crazy but still.
Not as it stands now. I like to go on long trips and I don't want to stress out on whether or not I'll make it to the next charge station. I'd rather get a Nissan Leaf as a second car, and just use it around town. I wouldn't go out of range and I could just charge it at home.
I do know one guy who has a Tesla, but he never goes on trips long enough to need a charging station. He just charges it at home. He likes it. However he makes $400,000 a year so it is pocket change for him... LOL
Where i live i can't own a Tesla or any other electric car, cause there is no way to charge it.
At least not yet, who knows what will happen in the future.
But if charging was possible, and everything, i would probably go for another brand/car, like the Renault Zoe.
Elon is a fraud and tesla's aren't any more environmentally friendly compared to NG cars, they also waste of energy cause of their weight. Every one of those green nonsense YouTubes aren't helping either, totally biased and they have no clue how to do actual math. Let us hope tesla doesn't make actual trucks, but I feel like some stupid fella might actually buy one!
Maybe?
Does it actually save money in the long run on gas tho?
I personally don't really care about it being environment friendly. I care about it being reliable and not costing too much.
Tesla is more expensive than other cars so if it costs less to charge it and maintain then sure I'd want one. Otherwise I don't know why I'd get it compared to other cars.
I think the damage to the Earth in getting enough special metals for the batteries and and the issue of battery disposal is just as much a problem as the fossil fuel issue.
I don't know why no one can think up a vehicle that runs on spring tension. Sure, you'd be sweating all the time but we'd eliminate fuel issues and obesity in a few months.
I would take one for free, but I would buy one. LCD displays are still bright at night despite being black, interior quality is low, real life ranges are a joke especially with AC or heating on. Batteries degrade pretty soon, after 3-4 years there is significant range decrease. Toyota and Lexus hybrids are better in every aspect and cheaper.
No, they have a fashionable edge to them that I cannot palate. Toys. Not to say that they don't deserve their success, their leading position. Just not for me. At least until their super mini comes out in a year or two.
And what idiot got rid of tactile physical buttons in cars. Illegal to play with a mobile in a car so they put an iPad in instead. Ffs.
It's currently the only car brand I would consider buying. If they just release a European small car model. But even then I can't defend a purchase, since I don't need a car for anything. It would be a complete waste of money.
I'll wait for an improved model has greater battery range and super fast charging.
I won't deny that I like the outside & inside styling. Still, I'll wait. I'm already extremely happy with my Hybrid Panamera.
Sorta. (I voted yes)
The no-gas thing is cool and seems like it would save a lot of money. But I’m HORRIBLE with gadgets and fear that I wouldn’t be able to figure out how to use this, how to charge it, where to charge it, etc.
Bella if money wasn't a concern then maybe yes I would like to have a Tesla for a second vehicle. But that's not in my budget and I wouldn't want to have an electric vehicle as my only vehicle at this point.
🙋♂️😊🚘
Don't really know. What I care about is having a reliable car (whenever I get my driver's license). I like Toyotas but really a reliable car is the most important to me
I don’t feel a very high motivation to own one. I’d like to do more research on one though so that I can make a better decision.
I don't want nor need a car so shrugs to a tesla give me one i'll just sell it which i suppose is useful so hmm maybe i do want one lol.

When I buy a Tesla - I'll indirectly fund ridiculous fun trips to space for certain people.
Not with me.
Electric vehicles in general are a good idea, though.
I would rather have one of these.

I would but that Tesla there comes with white leather interior and I would have been so messed up so quick but it is a nice car
the design does not appeal to me, and if they were to be quite silent as they've said... that would just weird me out
Nah, it's pretty shit in reliability. Better getting a Porsche Taycan instead for an extra 10,000 or so bucks.
no. because the refueling infrasturcture quite simply does not exist where i live. sure i can refuel at home, over night. but finding a refueling station somewhere is pretty much a crapshoot.
there's "some" electric vehicle charging stations around that i see. but those are occupied 90% of the time and also don't have universal standards. so even if you find a charging station, that still doesn't mean that you can plug a tesla into it.
No. I fucking hate them. The Tesla and the Ford Raptor owners are two perfect examples of people with more money than brains.
Ever notice how shitty Tesla drivers are?
I don't feel comfortable in cars Miss, so I don't want to own any car specially a very expensive Tesla if I can't even have a ride in it.
Yes and no.
it’s not a V8
however great for long trips
I'd rather buy a home and fix it up, or be a full time student with the equivalent of that money.
Maybe. I don’t drive that much so it’s not that big of a deal to me.
The new roadster maybe, but I’m not really a fan of any of the existing models that are currently out.
I would like to own one. I'm not totally into the electric car idea at this point but tesla does such a good job at it I'd be happy to.
It's the top of the list of my priorities but hey I wouldn't say no.
I couldn't afford the repairs, IF there are even going to be parts around when you need them.
I wouldn’t mind having one just to commute but I like a regular car for long trips
It's been my dream car for years. I can't wait till I can get one
No. Not end user serviceable. I am an end user and if I feel like hacking my fucking hardware i will. Fuck always connected.
No. Too expensive to buy in my country (over $1,000,000.00), let alone maintain.
Pretty soon everyone will own a tesla when they will start selling the $7,000 or $10,000 model 😊
i keep hearing they have a load of problems.
so probably not in my lifetime lol
Hell no.
I don't trust that greedy corparation.
I would want a Tesla but at the same time, there are always pros and cons to everything.
Not at all. Why do electric cars have to be so ugly?
Yes, I would like to, but not enough to spend the money it requires.
Eh, don't need a car, but if I wanted a car at all, a Tesla would be fine with me.
Nah. Overhyped bs. They're garbage. Coming from someone who's worked on a few.
Not at all I like old school cars like I drive a 1996 Buick regal custom it beats a Tesla any day in style
no way, my mechanic buddy says they’re more likely to explode in an accident than a normal car 😳
Already have one. And I have the in home fast charger built into my garage.
I would like to steal a tesla or win one on a game show
Nope, electrics are trash.
i prefer a cadillac or a lamborghini Urus
Some models have video game systems built in.
Yes, I would. I like them.
Don't need one but wouldn't mind I guess?
i guess
Hell no, give me any car made before 1975
Hell no, just give me a Truck.
It would save and get the Tesla
No electric cars are evil
Nooooooo electric weed eaters suck
Yes I have one, never going back to gas...
