One least that pissed me off was overhearing what I thought were close friends thinking I was jobless. Cause I wear cheap clothes and don't really go bling-bling with my earnings. I've won Siggraph awards. I'm kinda hot shit in my little industry. I just don't flaunt it and I know lots of people get turned off talking about nerdy stuff so I change the subject quickly when they ask me about my job. But I didn't realize I gave the impression that I was some jobless bum. When I heard that, I felt the need to boast all day long. :-D I didn't. But it's a problem with modesty. Maybe I should wear flashy suits or someting. I see it as a waste of money.

I guess they thought that not just because I wear cheap clothes but I've been working from a home office remotely for the past decade or so. And I adapt my schedule to the work -- so I'll sometimes party on Wednesdays, e. g. What they don't see is that I work on the weekends unlike them.
