If a rape victim sends the incorrect guy to prison, is that still unforgivable?

I once read a case like that. The woman that really did get raped. However, she made a mistake and the incorrect man was sent to prison.

The guy spent about 10-15 in prison and even though he managed to prove his innocence after the woman admitted it wasn't him, he didn't forgive the woman and money wasn't good enough for him. He was very upset that his life was ruined. Basically he felt what happened to him was unforgivable.

If you were that guy would that still be unforgivable? Yes, the woman did got raped but she sent the wrong guy to prison.

The guy knows it was terrible what she went throught but he hasn't forgiven her for getting it wrong.

Yeah. That is completely unforgivable. That's why I believe it's always better to let a guilty party go free than to let an innocent party go to prison. Not that we SHOULD ever try to let guilty parties go free. But the fact he was convicted wrongly means he should sue the F*CK out of the legal system. He probably didn't receive enough money for what happened. Not that it would make him "happy," but that it would make him feel like retribution was served. He probably also doesn't feel like he got justice for what happened to him, too.

I had something similar happen to me on a smaller scale. When I was in college, this feminist cunt accused me of being "a stalker" by the school's guidelines because I was black and one of the only males in my major (English). She was an upper middle class snowflake; the type to talk about "standing with minorities and LGBT-etc" but gets scared when she sees one in real life. Long story short, the school opened an investigation to see if I was "stalking" her. I wasn't, so they found nothing. However, they deemed me to be a "toxic male" anyway (literally, they made sh*t up and determined they "didn't like me") and expelled me anyway when I was two semesters away from graduation. I spent three years suing them and in the end, got a very small, sh*tty payout (about $40,000), almost all of which went towards my lawyer and paying off the remaining tuition I had at my new university. So I essentially had three years of my life taken from me, too. I'm not mad at the little twat who accused me of being "dangerous" for being black in her presence. I'm mad at the school for taking anything this little princess said seriously and expelling me based on some rich little cunt being racist.

So similarly to that guy, it was the system who failed, not the accuser. If I was him, I'd be furious at the judge and jury, and they should be the ones held accountable. The woman simply made a mistake and/or was foolish.

Why WOULD he forgive her? This is something few people like to acknowledge, but rape isn't qualitatively different from any other form of violence. It's politicized that way, largely to maintain a social narrative of perpetual female victimhood, but it's not. Ask yourself- what if it weren't rape? What if it were robbery, or assault of a non-sexual variety? Would that change your answer? More to the point, would it change how you FELT about it?

In this case, the damage is even worse, because rape is a socially viewed as second only to child molestation in terms of sheer awfulness; it's sometimes regarded as worse than murder. While it certainly can cause serious trauma and leave you struggling with PTSD, the same is also true of ANY serious form of violence- and the entire idea behind codified laws is that the punishment should fit the crime, not the victim's reaction to the crime. It's reached the level of absurdity where you have genuinely well-intentioned people arguing against the term "rape victim", because it suggests that you're a victim, WHILE pushing for ever-greater accommodations for the people in question. It assumes that people have no capacity for reasoning, and will only see themselves as victims if they're referred to as such. The term I keep running into is "rape survivor", which is just as nonsensical as "littering survivor", and a helluva lot more patronizing.

Rape is seen as so heinous a crime that interests in justice are often thrown to the wind- the mob wants blood, and it will have it. It's exactly the same mindset that killed Emmett Till.

Perverting the course of justice! A serious criminal offence. In this case, it is as bad as sending an innocent guy to prison when NO rape was commited.

A life has been ruined, either by mistake or deliberately. No amount of money will compensate for those lost years. In fact, not many years ago, the innocent guy could have been executed. An irreversable event.

In my opinion, this case is unforgivable, just as it may be impossible to forgive the true rapist.

That’s tricky. Neither are at fault, I mean the woman IS at fault if she made the mistake but she shouldn’t be deemed a bad person. But I think sending her to prison for a short time or punishing her a small amount would help ensure that people don’t make these mistakes again and accuse an innocent person. There was a guy who spent time in prison for the crime of changing her tire. He was only exonerated when CCTV and witness testimony forced her to recant her accusation as false. The thing is i guarantee no real rape victim would put the incorrect person in prison.

Women who make false accusations should suffer the same consequences the person who she accused falsely did..

Yes i would be just as unforgiving. I could care less if someone else raped her, The fact that she cost me multiple years of my life, And essentially destroyed me would earn her no forgiveness. She did to me something i did not deserve. I would not stop until i had taken from her what she took from me, with interest.

I'd say it is, because surely the police would take DNA samples at the time of reporting, and then test any suspects' DNA against said samples. If the case goes to court with the wrong defendant, then technically it's perjury, because you're saying "this is the perpetrator, we've got evidence" etc. The gentleman in your scenario should also sue the prosecutors for defamation, and report them for perjury. The original 'victim' should be prosecuted for accusing the false defendant of a very serious crime and ruining his life.

Of course it's unforgivable. Imagine losing years out of your life in a tiny cell with roommates who likely are legitimate rapists and the like, and all of that because the woman made a mistake (I guess). No amount of money will get the person his old life, and it's completely rational to be livid about the situation and have negative feelings towards the girl.

If you're going to make such a serious accusation, be sure. I wouldn't want my house burned down because im bad with faces. Better to say nothing than make a false accusation. There should be a legal consequence for making false accusations. The fact that there isn't says that the legal system favors women. I would forgive her. You have to because you can't carry around that hate for the rest of your life. Hating her isn't going to do you a lick of good. It will do you harm and you'll have no peace. I'd be thinking about the years I have left and how I want to spend them. One thing's for certain, I wouldn't spend them carrying around a cancerous vendetta that's going to do nothing but gnaw away at my mental health. She suffered. You suffered. So why not put the suffering to rest and let it go.

The answer to this question depends entirely on what you mean by "she made a mistake and the incorrect man was sent to prison", and "the woman admitted it wasn't him".

Those two statements are inconsistent with one another. Was it a mistake or did she know she sent the wrong guy to prison for 15 years.

She was really raped, her rapist was sentenced for 10-15 years. Then years later, she realized he wasn't her rapist and admitted she made a mistake.

She admitted to having certain doubts for the longest but since she was too traumatized by it, she wasn't thinking and really thought that was her rapist. Then I guess some thing didn't add up and she realized her gut instinct of him not being her rapist was right.
