Whenever marijuana or alcohol is discussed, we reach a point where we can all agree that everything in moderation is the key to happiness. BUT, I think we are forgetting about the fundamentals. I have smoked marijuana and cigarettes before but I quit. I drink small quantities of alcohol on occasion.
Alcohol and drugs at a glance:
1. Drug abuse is worse than drug moderation
2. Alcohol abuse is worse than alcohol moderation
Although that is true, what we forget to highlight during such discussions is just how underrated sobriety is. I was never a drug "addict" or a major drinker but I have always come to the same conclusion when I'm thinking about the negatives and positives of these vices. By the way, using drugs or alcohol as an excuse to get away from your problems CAN be avoided. The fact is, nobody "needs" drugs or alcohol to deal with anything. It starts out as a hobby and it either continues that way or turns into something ugly due to lack of self-control.
- Shouldn't we be focusing on the benefits of sobriety rather than the drawbacks of abuse and/or moderation?
- Has anyone else come to the same conclusion as I have?
