I am a professional pyrotechnician. I put on large fireworks shows for cities as well as proximal pyrotechnics (stage shows, bands) and movie special effects. I spent months preparing for an upcoming 4th of July party (seriously big party with a large, outdoor stage and a couple of metal bands) preparing new stage effects, huge fireballs and columns of fire along with a good sized fireworks show after the bands all choreographed to metal covers of patriotic songs. Then COVID hit. Doesn't look like it's happening this year either, but I've been collecting even more gear for the day it happens.
Also, every year a friend of mine runs a fireworks stand. He's been doing it for like 25 years. He started dealing fireworks just to support his own habbit, but because he keep prices cheap, is staffed by non-commission professional pyrotechnicial who actually know what all the fireworks do and will spend all the time you want to educate you and even show you videos of stuff on a big screen TV and the fact that we refuse to sell anything that any of us wouldn't buy, he has grown the stand to the biggest selling stand in the State. He also has a bouncy house, free popcorn, kettle corn, face painting, etc, all just to make it fun. On the 4th, we'd take a few thousand dollars worth of fireworks and go light it at someone's house and invite all the neighbors to see the show and have a little party. Sadly, fireworks were banned this year in the county that his stand was in. This is the first year in the memory of my entire life that I don't have plans for the 4th.

Not any more. I live downtown within walking distance where traditionally 50,000 people show up for a harborside fireworks display every year except for last year and now the next several years. They decided to relocate the fire works to the other end of the county and to charge $5 to watch within a quarter of a mile of the stadium where they are launching them from. Meanwhile the public park where everyone used to go to watch it from is now being turned into a paid venue to cater to wealthy tourists at the expense of us locals who can't afford to pay $50 to go fishing at the public fishing pier where we used to fish for free. The city no longer understands the meaning of the term "public park." But I digress.

I will be having a cookout where I will be having a steak for the first time in years. While it will be a small rib eye steak it will be the most expensive cut of meat I have ever consumed what with steak now being $20 a lb for T-Bone and almost twice that for a rib eye. I will be rounding that out with home baked rolls, steamed spinach and home made Fries with my monthly half glass of red wine (I'm diabetic) and a sliver of apple pie (did I mention I'm diabetic?) IF the coming tropical storm doesn't rain on my parade. (pun intended)

On the other hand either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning the beach combing (my hobby) should be fabulous! Every cloud has a silver lining (pun intended)

Well it's my birthday this weekend (3rd), so usually my family celebrated my birthday and the 4th all at once. So probably gonna have cake, pizza, and lots of tasty barbecue!

Other than that, just rest. I've had a long, bad week so I need a break from everything

I live in Canada so our national day is the first and I had minor dietary blessings such as a home made smoothie with veggies planted in our backyard or cooked by us, some scallop, and pasta which is one of my favourite things to eat. I also saw fireworks since the neighbours are rich and wanted a party.

In years past, we would park outside the fairgrounds for a very close view (almost above our heads) of the fireworks display. They didn't have one last year because of *covid!!!* I don't care if we go this year or not.

We might not do anything at all aside from possibly watching a movie at home on TV.
My wife is fighting some kind of germ or sinus infection right now. It's minor - no aches, pains, fever or anything. (Must be covid because there are no other germs in the world. LOL). She's in good health and taking good care of herself but naturally feels a bit miserable. So she might prefer to just stay home, relax and let her immune system fight it off.

Yay nothing to do with the 4th of July but visiting my family for the first time since the beginning of the Pandemic so really excited... Was going to go on Saturday but England are playing in the Euro's so I can delay it for a day and drown my sorrows/celebrate like it's 1966 (the last time England ever won anything), after 18 months of not seeing me I don't think my family would appreciate me turning up pissed up/in tears whilst drunkenly singing Sweet Caroline. So the 4th of July it will be! lol

Just fireworks, grilled food (probably salmon or chicken this year) and fireworks, visible from the backyard. The city display is very good but it is always a madhouse trying to leave so I don't bother actually going there anymore, especially when I can see it from my porch anyway.

Yeah, spending it with my wifes brother and his wife in Oklahoma. We head back to Wisconsin day or two after the fourth.

------------Probably working most of it. Have a funeral to go to the day after and get my dad to the eye doctor. So not much fun this weekend but lots to be thankful for.

Go to fireworks Sunday night.
Several towns in the area pool their money and have a decent fireworks show.
May have a few friends over on Monday, otherwise, likely just pull weeds for a week!
