still I can't do that since anyone can easily tell just looking at my face, Once i lie to a person without saying a word , i smile :)..

You can easily lie to yourself? I strongly disagree with that since I've tried many times to lie myself about let's say ''something''.. but it didn't work.. you can not run from yourself/yourmind. impossible.

I think there are many ways to mislead people without saying a word although I'd want to separate a conscious deception over an inadvertent one. For example, if a guy sees a girl whose body language seems very interested to him -- and let's say even other spectators agree -- but she isn't actually interested and rejects him, I wouldn't call her a deceiver necessarily if she wasn't consciously doing it. I'd prefer to err on assigning more fault to the guy for misreading her body language if anyone is to be at fault, even if her body language is confusing.

Here in Japan, we actually kind of value false body language in some contexts, like considering it polite to smile at other people even if we don't like them. We don't consider this so much a deception as etiquette and a way to promote cooperation, perhaps somewhat like an American saying they're fine when asked how they're doing even if they don't feel fine just out of courtesy to keep the mood of the situation positive and friendly.

Unfortunately, this tends to lead to a lot of confusion when foreigners come to this country, like guys who mistake a Japanese girl smiling and being polite as a sign of interest even if she has no interest in him that way whatsoever.

I talked to some Americans about this and they consider it two-faced and obnoxious and deceptive, but I tend to value it to some extent as a way to promote maximum cooperation and peace among strangers and loose acquaitances.

So, for example, I consider it polite to smile and not complain at one of my friend's birthday parties even if I am having a bad day so that everyone can have a good time. Perhaps the following day in a more intimate setting with a friend, I can frown and express a more troubling feeling to them.

I don't think it's a lie, but you can decieve or mislead someone though. To actually lie you need to say it, but I'm just being technical.

Of course yes. A person can "invent" and repeat, repeat, repeat an alternative story in one's mind. Just look at optical illusions to see how the human brain can be tricked.

You can lie by omission, which I suppose could be just remaining silent when people have formed opinions or ideas that you know to be false.
