Is it possible to make a golden age of hip-hop in 2021?

Question

Like hip-hop from about 1988 - 1996... it had some sort of magical funky sound to it that I haven't heard any new rappers replicate... I want to make good hip-hop songs like the good old days of the early 90s... But is that even possible in these times?
I've heard a lot of rappers try to make so called "oldschool tracks" but they jus don't sound like authentic 90s rap to me... what would I need?
A legitimate funky 90s beat? Like... is it even possible anymore?

Possible, but unlikely considering mumble rap is a f*cking thing. You had a song that was just saying "Gucci Gang" on by a guy who literally looked like a gay clown and kids ate that sh*t up. No, Nas was right when he said Hip Hop is dead, and that was in 2007. And I never even liked Nas that much to begin with. These mumble rap clowns make little' Wayne sound talented and even he was dogsh*t back in the 2000's. Hell, they make Nikki and Cardo sound like they've got talent. I once told someone if they played any Nikki Minaj around me, they couldn't be my friend or hang around me, and I was joking, either.

The latest "new" rapper I liked was Kendrick Lamar, and even he's kind of an idiot. Now we got that little' Nas X sh*t and he's mostly just a meme and not even actual hip hop. (I don't even know what the f*ck he is.) The least sh*tty out of all of these sh*tty rappers was MGK, who Em Thanos-dusted the entire career of. But if anyone can recommend me someone who doesn't suck in 2021, I'm all ears. (I'm surprised I managed to type all this without cursing and losing my temper.)

Maybe find some vintage studio gear.

No, it’s not possible, focus on coming up with new sub genres, the generation that vibes on 90s hip hop already know the tracks, the styles and the artists - that’s what authentic, so making new artists do old old stuff will sound ridiculous, new artists should do new stuff specifically for the newer generations.

Hip-Hop from that era was mostly made up of samples, largely of 60s and 70s funk, R&B, and Disco songs, and those songs were written and performed by real musicians who could play instruments. That was where much of the "magic" came from. But that largely changed when artists got sued and started having to clear samples.

Today, if you include a sample, you have to get permission first, and assuming you get the permission, and assuming the sample is small, it's going to cost you 25% of your publishing royalties. 2 samples costs 50%, and so on. And if it's a larger sample, you have to negotiate a percentage, and it's probably going to be pretty big.

That's why most Hip-Hop today uses synths and non-musical samples, but it also means that the music is a lot less funky than it was.

Hip hop at that time was dangerous. The general society was terrified of it. After that came gangster rap which was divide and conquer. The only one I know still standing is Paris, of Guerilla Funk. If you know anyone else still doing it, please let me know.
