It’s very much a case of distance from the light when it changes, my speed and weather / road conditions.
i also check behind me, I have great brakes in both my cars but if there is an HGV behind me, they might not appreciate me jamming on the anchors lol.
i do not unless really close ever go through an Amber.
i know just how quick I am on the green, a sports auto with AWD is banging of the line very fast.
We have red light cameras here and if you run it and mistime it, then you end up with 3 points.
It depends how far I am from the yellow light because if I´m closer than 20m (or about 21yrd) I speed up. If I´m above that I slow down. Though in Germany one learns in driving lessons that you should speed up within 40m ( about 43 yrds) from the yellow light, I couldn´t do that because of my old car that takes longer to speed up.
Lmao. Just happened less than 10 minutes ago. Currently a passenger in a funeral home removal car. Driver went through a yellow light that turned red before he cleared the intersection. We got pulled over, but the police officer recognized me (and called me Shirley lol) so he got off with a warning. For me it’s a judgment call. If someone is following too close or if I think I’ll end up stopping in the intersection I’ll drive on through.

People fly through red here and not a small town. I caught 9 on my helmet cam in fifteen min of riding the other night. Thinking of creating a wall of shameful local drivers.
Due to this it’s not always safe to slow or stop at a yellow with an ass behind you. So it depends on how visible I am (if on my bikes) and also the conditions of the entire intersection itself.
Whenever I ride, I always slow down automatically when approaching any intersection, even if it's green. People pass me sometimes, but I don't care.
@Jamie05rhs Definitely good practice to do. I had a police bike shoot through in front of me once, he jumped when he saw me. He had slowed, but was looking for larger vehicles. I saw him well in advanced because of the lights, but no siren.
@dustybiker Thanks.
And good for you for being aware! I'm sure the cop appreciated that and respected you for it.
@Jamie05rhs Thank you, too. He gave a wave and a nod. :)
What do you ride, by the way?
@dustybiker a Sukuki
It depends if I know the light or not. If I'm familiar with the timing of that particular light, I might try to beat it if I think I have a reasonable chance. But if I'm not familiar with that light, then I don't take any chances, because I don't know how fast it's going to change.
If there is blinking yellow lights that are sign to approach but with caution and slow
these lights could happen at a entrance of a hospital or even a school all depends on sometimes these yellow lights are put on when the other lights are temporary disabled
but really, not really i'm more prone to getting ready too stop. too many cops around these parts XD
If I’m driving at the limit I slow down, but if I’m going a little faster (think of LA driving) I’ll go through the light if braking would cause me to smash on my brakes.
I speed up unless im way too far then i slow down :p
If you have to speed up to beat the light you have time to stop. I'm just saying.
@EnglishEuropean its LA. Everyone does it here, even cops themselves. Yellow lights aren't treated how they are intended here
@Still-alive There are reckless drivers where you live? 😂
If I am too close to stop in a safe manner I go through the light as this is one of the road rules here however if I have Enough breaking distance to safely stop I will stop
I don't know 😂
I'll slow down or maybe drive faster?
Look to see if a cop is around? JK. I stop unless I am already too close to stop easily.
I live in New York so I have to stop or the camera will catch me and you can't fight that
Brooklyn NY
How did you know that because of my name and what state are you from
Do you currently live there now
Cool what part
Nice I love it out there I use to live in Huntington LI
I tried to inbox you but you have to follow me first
If it changes in good time I'll stop. If it changes at the last moment I'll go on through. You don't want to slam on the brakes and get rear-ended.
depends on my distance to the thing. normally everything above 100 feet i stop.
Depends how soon it just changed on whether I can make it through it safely or if I have enough time to stop
I slow down and stop, unless I am already in the intersection.
I go faster to make it, but it depends if I’m close, if I’m far away I’ll slow down and stop.
I see the distance between the me and the cross line. If it’s less, then I drive fast. If it’s far, I’ll slow down
I do this
Calculate my speed and distance from the intersection to determine if I can stop before the intersection and if I can make it through the light. If both are true then I choose based on how much of a hurry I am in.
slow the fuck down or stop. God knows where those cameras are
If there’s barely anyone on the road and I know I won’t get into an accident I punch it
