Speed up

Depends on the situation, my speed vs distance to the light, if someone behind me is up my ass and going fast, etc.
Overall, I slow down for them, just because I want a life free from interaction with police, so I don’t give them any reason to harass me if I can help it. But it doesn’t make sense to come to a screeching halt to just not blow a red light by.5 seconds, there’s no danger to me or anyone else in that situation. And if some overly-aggressive idiot is up my tailpipe, I’m not doing anything that’s going to cause them to read end me and make me stop what I’m doing for half an hour to be exchanging insurance, again probably having to speak to a cop, and the general hassle of my car being in the shop.
*.5 seconds
Technically supposed to slow down, but I speed up because the lights where I live were recently changed to take longer than 5 minutes in a lot of places, which backs traffic up like crazy. I have too many things to do to be slowed down by stupid stuff like that.
Honestly, depends on the city and driving conditions. A certain amount of speeding up is going to be acceptable in dense cities, of which I have driven many times. Best to adapt to the conditions, rather than make everyone else adapt to just you, causing chaos.
I totally got the answer lol😊💞

the highway code says to slow down and stop if safe to do so but if you are already at the junction to just carry on going especially if you have something right behind you. incidentally if you are going to stop you should always check your rear view mirror first just in case
Depends. If it just came on as I got to the intersection I’ll keep going and maybe speed up just to make sure I get across in time, but if I’m a few hundred or thousand feet away from the stop light then ofc I won’t make it in time and so I slow down and prepare to stop.
In my state it's legal to intentionally drive through a yellow light so long as it is still yellow before you enter the intersection, so it really depends on how far away I am and how fast I'm going. Most of the time because of the law, though, I'll drive through it.
Depends... If a person is in front of me and he slows down, I slow down. If someone is trying to make a left, I slow down to a rolling to a complete stop to let them through. Also depends if someone behind me is following too close and if no one is making a left or in front of me, I step on the gas. However, I always hover my foot on the brake pedal every time I cross an intersection...
If maintaining speed will carry me through before it turns red, generally maintain.
Otherwise slow down.
Acceleration doesn't make much difference and is also just dumb. I've been in a T collision at an intersection. It's not a good way to spend your day.
Slow down, thats because our traffic lights do something not-so-common:
Before they turn yellow, they blink 4 times in green, so you know before you should no longer cross. Crossing on yellow gets prosecuted heavily in my country (Austria) so better dont do it 😂
I can't push a poll button, because for me, it depends on my distance from the light!
If I get about 50 feet from the intersection point at 30mph, I'll run through.
If I'm more than 50 feet from that point, and even if I'm moving at 45mph, I'll halt. (And grumble) Here's something: The average Yellow Signal lasts for approximately 5 seconds! Time it well!
If I'm already in the intersection, I'll speed up to stay clear of the intersection.
If I'm just approaching the pedestrian lane, I'll slow down & stop just in time for the red.
You'd think my number of red light tickets has taught me to slow down but no lol
I judge it to see how far I am from the light. Yellow light stays on for avg 3 seconds. My city also has it listed on their website all the intersections that have the cameras so I know if I can risk it or not.
Luckily for me there's talk of my state possibly banning them
Back when I was taking lessons I tried to go through a light on amber and the instructor slammed the breaks on. I always remembered that. You need to plan ahead. When you're approaching the light, check if there's someone behind you. Is it safe to break if the light changes? Am I approaching too fast? All that stuff.
If the distance between me and the traffic light allows for a stop, I will stop, but if it turns yellow and I’m like 15 ft away I’ll probably just go. Exceptions are if I’m in a rush to get to work or somewhere. If I see a cop I’ll definitely stop.
It could go either way for me lol but I mostly slow down unless I see no cops around and I’m already really close enough to pass before it turns to red😏I’m a safe driver and a great one too I promise haha
Depends how close I am. If I definitely couldn't stop without hammering on the breaks I keep going or speed up a little. If I'm too far back and I know the light would turn red while I'm in the intersection, I slow down
Depends how far away im at the light. If I'm close, I speed up, if im far away I slow down, as well as whats going on around me.
How close am I, how long has it been yellow and do i know if this is one of those lights that goes straight from yellow to red
it depends on brakes magnitude of the car/bike i have been using at that particular area at the particular time.
time signifies the amount of traffic that are different according to time zones of particular area given.
and area signifies the amount of traffic that are are holded by the given place that vary from minimum to maximum traffic that vary according to the timezones.
Who slows down for yellow lights? Neeeeeeeeerds!
(meant in the spirit of "all in good fun and not reporting mildly offensive comments." So don't be a nerd about it.)
Lol.
Speed up if i can easily make it, slow down if its been yellow for a while or i am distant enough to stop gracefully.
I slow down to the FCY (Full Course Yellow) speed and wait for the race director to release the track back to green. Make a pit stop if we are in the pit window or close to it.
I use a car service, so the only time I see a yellow is when I race.
