What do you do when your car's TIRE PRESSURE WARNING light comes on?

Question

You're driving down the road and the tire pressure earning light goes on. What do you do?

Some cars are sophisticated enough to tell you the pressure of each tire while others, especially older vehicles, only tell you that at least least one of your tires is low on pressure.

Note: You can find the proper tire inflation on a sticker, typically in the drivers side doorframe

It's not really anything to worry about most of the time. Typically there is an acceptable range that your tires should be within. If a low PSI indicator comes on, you're probably safe for another 4 PSI drop. When the weather changes, your tire pressure changes due to the temperature fluctuation. The same goes for when you are driving a lot and your tires heat up from friction. If the weather has cooled off and I expect it to stay cool for a while, I might put some air in it to adjust for winter. I it's just a short cold front and it will be hot again in a couple days I'll just ignore it. If the weather is pretty stable and I haven't put air in my tires for a very long time, then I'll check the air pressure when I get home manually and put a little air in with an air pump.

If that light comes on but nothing else, I keep going to my destination/next stop then visually check it and add air if needed. I'm pretty good about keeping my tire pressure where it should be with my compressor at home, so usually it's just a cold morning or something and it goes away on its own.

If it's more serious, my dashboard gets an additional text warning in which case I'll pull over at the next station/opportunity. This has only been truly bad once when I ran over a couple nails driving around a military base.

I just pump it up at the first opportunity either at home or when I'm getting petrol.

I'd guessing we changed it to a Y because tire is too close to the verb tire=to make sleepy.

Usually when English words are spelt weirdly it's a ghost of ancient grammar but I think given tyres are new it is more common sense to use Y

1. Pull over to a safe spot to park.

2. Put on a latex glove on the hand that's gonna remove & return the valve stem cap.

3. Attach my li'l battery-powered compressor.

4. Set the compressor to necessary psi and start inflating.

5. I might have to do that same with the other tires if their psi reading don't match.

My car does not have a tire unflation warning, so I simply check my air pressure about once a month. I have a compressor at home (for various unrelated reasons,) so it is easy to keep my tires inflated.

I add in some air. If it stays on then I'll take it into the place where I got my tires has a 3 year guarantee so they'll check it for free

I mean the sensor on one of my tires is busted, there’s plenty of air in the tires since I check it every time I stop for gas (twice a week usually) so I just ignore it because while it does need to be replaced it’s low on the priority list. Last winter it was so cold one of the other sensors were acting up and I did get worried but all is well.

If my vehicle didn't have this issue I would check the tire, add air if needed if it kept coming up I would ask my BIL to run a diagnostic on it and determine the issue

I have a air pressure thingy in the car, so i do a control. In Sweden almost all gas station has a (DIY) little section where you can fill your tires with air, control the air pressure, clean the windows and so on, all for free. In the gas station there is other basic things for car reparing/cleaning like oil, wipes, lights etc.

I've always checked the air of my tires at least once a month. All this new gauge stuff is tells you that you're at low on air.

My granddaughter thought it was a lucky horseshoe. Till I got into the car and I got out and I told her that car's tire air pressure was lowe. I have a gauge and an air compressor in the garage. Low air pressure will ruin your tires and have poor gas mileage. If your tires have low in air pressure may have to buy new tires because the tread is worn which causes another added expense.

Generally hasn’t been a problem. Either my mechanic keep track and maintain it. Or my hubby takes care of all the car/household stuff.
we do have a white car. Soon after we purchased 3-4 years ago… the tire pressure warning came on. We have checked everything from the dealer to our mechanics…it’s just how it is…so we left it rather than getting into the eletric/sensory wiring system.

I would drive sensibly and cautiously to nearest garage and inflate tyre to correct pressure. Please Note:  Whilst doing so, I would naturally check all the remaining tyres.

Its noted on the tire as far as I know and can be donemat nearly every gasstation. I know how to do it, in case of emergency, but I mostly just tell my husband. He uses the car much more anyway.

My old car has a dead tire pressure sensor. Unfortunately those things are expensive, so I put black e-tape over the light on my dash, and periodically checked them with a tire pressure gauge.

Ignore it a lot of the time but periodically check my pressure. TPMS are finnicky. Nitrogen tires can help a little with that.
