Are you supposed to run a red light when a cop car with lights and siren is behind you at an intersection?

I thought they weren't supposed to push people through the intersection when they can't get through? This is just something I saw the other day. If it was me it happened to, I would have went through the intersection when it was clear, but I don't necessarily blame that person for not moving when the cop came behind him or her. At the same time I think the police should know how to not get into that situation. I've seen ambulances who can't get through and they just wait for the light to turn green. It's all they can do.

Yes, you can run the light if it is safe to do so in other to clear the road, but you must also pull over as soon as possible too - you can't just continue down the road.

The only way you can run a red light is to go out of the way but still don’t purposely run the red light! Just get the fuck out of the way! Sounds like you are the one that’s getting chased though.

No, I watched it from the other side in the left hand turn lane. I wasn't in the way.
