I can't believe a modern professor would have you handwrite something. That was dead when I went to college. The only handwriting was on written tests. Otherwise they didn't want to be bothered with trying to read people's writing and wanted it typed with Times New Roman 12 pt. The only issue any had with writing was one oddball who insisted on Arial font.

If that's her thing. What are you going to do? Either carefully write it out again or fail the class. They're the king or queen of their little domain.

well go to the dean then. or at university there's usually some coordinator that you can ask about such things and what to do.

you can't be graded based on something that's not part of the curriculum. it's a different story if you do lots of spelling mistakes or other formal errors. but how your handwriting looks like is 1. highly subjective and 2. not part of any curriculum.

well... to the dean then. because grading someone based on handwritging is objectively not ok if that's not the explicit subject matter. you can't be punished with bad grades for something you weren't even expected to learn by the formal curriculum. professors can't just apply their personal preference to the grades they give.

Professors have to deal with many situations, concerning their students. Handwriting is one. If they have difficulty reading your essay it takes time away from evaluating other students.

I had a professor in grad school that demanded that margins on papers were exactly 1 inch. He said that if you just set the margins at 1 inch that is not accurate enough. I actually had to print it out and get a ruler and measure the margins. I had to tweak them until they were exactly 1 inch. I guess he was trying to get us to follow directions.
