Sofa.
I think the unofficial, but mostly used distinction is that Sofas have cushions and armrests. They are specifically designed for sitting.
Couches, on the other hand, doesn't come with an armrest and is also designed for lying down.

Couches are also, by unofficial description, smaller than a sofa.

I would call it either a couch or a sofa, I use those terms as synonyms.

Is there some sort of technical difference between the terms? I just thought it might be a regional choice difference such as whether people call carbonated flavored sugar water "pop" or "soda".

Yes, it has three cushion is a couch and a sofa… but the cushions that count on the ones on the bottom, where you sit. This only have TWO cushions (on the seating surface) therefore it is by definition a loveseat.

My grandparents used Davenport as the name almost exclusively. I kinda like it, and if I ever see a mid century modern couch i immediately think of it as a Davenport, although I don't usually actually say it out loud as I don't want people to think I've gone off the deep end.

Sofas and couches aren't the same. Basically Sofa's are more formal have bigger armrests and are made for sitting.. while couches are less formal and are more often used to lie on.
