Actually kinda shocked to hear women nowadays do not cook breakfast for her husband anymore? am I being old fashined?

i'm 31yrs old born in south korea, raised in malaysia and then settled in south korea. i am married to my 45yrs old husband an year ago.
my husband considers breakfast as most important meal and i think the same as well.
recently, my korean friends called me off as old fashined woman for cooking breakfast for my husband.
they said in korea men cook their own breakfast while women still in bed.
i was kinda shocked to hear that, since i was learned that women should cook the meals for her family.
i mean why is it so wrong for wife doing her duty? especially when she's unemployed!
what do you guys think of this matter? hope you guys can give me clear answer as i am so confused by this latest korean marriage culture shit

If a spouse stays home while the other works then it's the spouse's job to take care of the other stuff. It's not demeaning. If you both worked then both of you share in household responsibilities then. And if the woman makes the money then the husband can do the housework. It's a group effort. People get stuck up on the duties as if they themselves are sexist or something. No? We all gotta eat right? We all gotta have clean clothes? If someone is working 60+ hours a week busting their butt out of the house wouldn't you want them to continue doing it at peak efficiency?

So you help them out by making sure they aren't even MORE exhausted trying to keep up with everything. People want to demean stay at home wives for their choices while talking about those wives being "close minded". No, you should have a choice and you should live according to your own individual and unique set of circumstances. If you are doing this for your husband and its helping him out and you love him and enjoy it then who is anyone else to say its a problem? Women get so touchy about this in the same vain the men do if I cooked for a girlfriend they would call me a "simp". Same mentality and people fail to realize it sometimes, smh.

It's because of the feminist movement. A lot of younger females in western society nowadays almost seem afraid to cook for their partners because they don't want to be labelled as a house wife or something even remotely close to it. A lot of females I've met and got to know usually ended up saying something along the lines of "Oh I can't cook. I burn even toast." as an excuse.

The fact of the matter is traditional times of only the female cooking are over and we are more enlightened now that we would neevr go back to those times. Cooking is an essential skill and every adult should know how to cook. I genuinely enjoy cooking.

Who gives a shit about other people? Some women do not like cooking for their partners because they choose to reject traditional gender roles. Some women like to cook for their husbands because it makes them happy. Even some men also like cooking for their wives because it is a form of showing love. At the end of the day, what's important is that you're happy. If choosing to cook for your husband makes you happy, then go for it!

While I do not always cook breakfast for my husband I do how ever prepare whatever he asks for and so that after he gets out of the shower he can eat. I even pull out his clothes for him. I have been with the same person all my life. We have been married for almost 23 years. I am 47, but consider myself old fashioned.

however, none of these applies to me so right now i am doing my role as a wife at the same time, i do my things like going to the gym, studying and etc while my husband is not around.

@Asker I dont think those jobs are "wifely duties". Rather I think that just because he's brining home 100% of the income that you need to help out around the house, which is what you are doing. If you got full time work tomorrow then those duties would be split down the middle. I dont see a good reason for 1 person to make all the money if the other person is just going to sit around all day and watch TV. that's basically freeloading and the guy would be better off just having a few dinner dates every month and taking her to bed. Granted I dont believe in such a lifestyle myself, but you get my point.

I suppose I depends on how you look at it. I never found cooking menial. Hell I cook all th time. I find it to have more meaning than what I do for a corporation that give no F's about me and mine. Cooking and putting love into it has deep meaning. But he'll what do I know I'm Italian. If she's not working than she has a duty to do something. I myself don't want a stay at home wife. Simply put I don't make that kind of money. In top of that the sheer pressure of trying to find new jobs if I lose mine or get sick. Imho this is more likely to cause divorce simply because when the going gets tough the wife might decide to find another guy to get resources from. But even if she doesn't the amount of emotional and mental anguish of feeling like I am causing my family to go hungry would kill me inside. I don't know how precious generations did it or why any sane and rational man would have chosen that over our modern alternative. NGL there are a lot of things in modern society I hate. But women being able to work is not one of them. Only thing I want to see are reduced work weeks for both and better pay so we can see each other more. I think for us in America the work/life balance is what kills a lot of relationships and puts us in early graves. How great would it be if you and your husband both came home right around the same time the kids did from school? You'd have made your money but actually live out your most important moments in life. Those being with your kids and hopefully the love of your life.

It's not wrong if you derive satisfaction from it. Don't allow yourself to accept being told by others that you're wrong. If your friends find it 'wrong' let them find their own partners that agree. This should have no bearing on you.

My wife always cooks herself breakfast. I don't eat breakfast that often myself. When we move in together we plan to start eating it together though—and both help make it—cause apparently that's a good way to start the day. I can't really disagree, I like making and eating breakfast. I just don't take the time to do it on my own.

Just do what works best for you and yours. Even if it is old fashioned who cares? It's still good.

Since my husband and I both work full time we take turns cooking breakfast. I cook dinner the grand majority of the time because I enjoy it and because I get home before he does. At the end of the day though, it's not 1950 anymore, relationships vary, it's not a one size fit's all.

It’s not about specific genders making their own food. For example if a husband starts making toast for him it would be easier to make some for his wife because it would take a long time to clean and repeat a second time. If a woman makes eggs in the morning it’s easier to make two more eggs for her husband than to turn oven off etc etc etc. it’s not gender roles it’s being kind to other other and finding the east way. Again it’s NOT gender roles

No, you are not being old fashioned. Marriage is whatever work for you two. You two are a team. You two must be happy together. No matter who do which chore. If you are stay at home wife you are happy making breakfast and husband is happy too you get appreciated 😊 then where the heck is the problem?
