I now officially don't trust anyone with my money, is this normal?

After getting scammed big time by my long-distance ex and him owing me over $1,000 I don't trust people (except my parents and maternal grandma if needed) with my money. I'm also leery of sharing my income information or details about money. I'm going to pretend to be broke.

I've experienced both getting used for pleasure/sex (when I dated him long ago) and also with money. He wanted to get 1/2 of all my income and get part of my grandma's rent when she dies. I completely understand men's fears regarding when they lose part of their assets or are used for money. I don't trust anyone with my money now. Is this normal?

Even though I'm over him... I'm still processing the fact that someone can be a leech. This was someone I would've trusted with my bank account with my eyes close. But wow... just to think he would've been capable of emptying it all and ruin me financially... wow... unbelievable

It is normal. You can't trust too many people and like they say money is the root of evil so it's good to give money to someone whom you know is struggling without planning to get it back because good karma comes back as well. People that have two legs and two arms and are struggling is what I call laziness. So it's good to just be careful

I'm still shocked that someone I once knew (I saw him in person and dated him long ago) never loved and probably didn't like me physically, that the whole relationship was a lie. He was after wealth. This is the lifestyle this user wanted:
- A woman that cooks his favorite food, that cleans the house and once a month cooks for his entire family and friends... and lives of 1/2 of her income

It is so easy to end up getting scammed these days, those people have no feelings what so ever of what they are doing to the other person.
To them it is just a big game.

Yeah it's always been a game to him from the beginning, with him even lying about his real age for years. Instead of being just 2-3 years older, he was really 10-12 years older. This wasn't just a stranger I've never met before. This was someone I once knew; the one that I lost my V-card with long ago, the one I even trusted with my life. We dated for 10 months and then it became a long-distance relationship.
Both my money and heart is guarded now.

it sucks when it happens to you, but I think it is even worse to do it to someone you know.
I could never do that to someone.
Once your trust has been broken, it is hard to trust someone, anyone again.

I just feel disgusted to think that he didn't even like me physically nor really ever loved me as a person (he used to tell me himself about never caring about a girl's looks) and the whole relationship from the start (even when I gave him my V-card long ago) was a LIE.

To make it even more gross... when I met him long ago I was 19 and he told me he was 21/22 years old. Many years later, he then tells me his real age at the time was really 30.

I understand you're upset but you've survived it and you learned from it. You will never make that mistake again. Honestly, it may mean something to you giving your V card away But I personally wouldn't care if you were a virgin or not. I like a woman for who she is not who she is slept with or if she has slept with someone

Yeah iv had problems like that too. there's a lot less respect when someone can hide behind a screen for a good portion of the relationship. It really sucks to be used when you think you can trust someone

yeah that guy was a lot more than the typical player. Even the players themselves don't think of something like that magnitude nor keep the lie for years. They are the ones that pump and dump but this was a long-term user... wow. It's so unbelievable. Just to think that he even lied about his real age so I can accept him and continue with the act for so long.

Yeah iv had a pretty bad experience in the past trying to date someone long distance. I eventually found out that everything was fake. Even all the drama and fake circumstances that she used to get money from me after i fell in love and committed to her

Good. I didn't know any better. I've met him before and we dated. It then became a long-distance relationship and I didn't think he would scam me; the one I shared my details of my life for years, the one that I lost it to long ago, the one that claimed I was the love his life, etc.
