I didn't really grow up celebrating Christmas, so we never had to pick between getting a real tree or an artificial one. I feel like real trees look better but I'm a person that likes convenience.   @Daniela1982 Actually, I don't care one way or the other, and I don't formally "celebrate" Christmas.
  Gifts were brought to the Christ child by believers, so at least the idea of gifting has something to do with Christmas. The whole tree thing took hold when the celebration of Christ's birth, strongly believed to be in the fall around harvest time, was moved to coincide with the winter solstice - a pagan ritual.
