What could happen if we never have a leap year?

We use the Julian calendar which has to use a leap year to get the calendar back into calibration. We are working our time schedule just like the Romans. Some of the oldest calendars found are 364 day calendars with 91 days per season; instead of leap years they used leap weeks. The 364 day calendar and the Julian calendar are fairly accurate. There are different forms of mathematics used to find the seasons, birthdays, new year, etc. If we don't properly use the leap year or leap weeks, certain business such as farming are impacted by the seasons and timeline. Its just like when one messes up on math for financial calculations, the further the calculations are off the further the financial damage.

It would throw the seasons off completely in time. The reason for this is that the Earth doesn't circle around the Sun 365 times. It orbits 364 1/4... ish. This is why an extra day is added every four years.

Though I'd be interested to see what happens in the next few centuries, because apparently the earthquake which produced that tsunami in the Indian Ocean back in 2004 was so powerful that it sped up the Earth's rotation by a fraction of a second. I'd think that that would have some kind of long-term effect, given the exactness with which the universe operates.

The solstices and the equinox would move back earlier by 1/4 of a day every year. They already fluctuate between leap years now but every 4 years they would shift back one day. By the time you live your entire life, the spring equinox would shift from late March to the middle of February

If there was no leap years it would are undof time, are 24 hour day, 365 days of the year and the calendar dates of events in our history and in our future would all be out of sync.

What DID happen, under the Julian calendar: our calendar would be off by more and more time each year, eventually throwing our perception of the seasons out of balance.

Nothing.

In hundred thousands of years there would be changes to the seasons, winter in July and summer in December.
