Are Mercedes "Old Man Cars"?

I was doing some research and found out I could be driving an "old man car." It does make sense. I mean, the heated seats feel nice on my back. I don't have to remember to turn the headlights or windshield wipers on. Never any mechanical issues, so I don't have to fuss with mechanics. Holy s**t, am I getting old?

These features on the other hand are typically available on "regular brands" as well , such as Volkswagen or Suzuki as an extra. You did not mention by the way the heated steering wheel which is waaay addictive in winter seasons like we have now haha. About the mechanics, I'm not sure whether you really buy a proportional reliability for that money on the long run.

I'm a bit surprised, Dana. You've been a reliable source of truth up to this point. First of all, I'm not named after Mr. Bean. Secondly, the investment pays off because you drive for 100s of thousands of miles with no mechanical issues. Then, some dumbass hits your car. Because it's a Mercedes the insurance company quotes me for parts, labor, medical, and missed revenue.

I don't know, in my opinion it is wasteful to have such an expensive vehicle. It costs way more than a normal car, the insurance costs way more, and so do repairs when it gets older and they do wear out, especially since it has so much electrical features. Heated seats, steering wheels, adjustable lumbar support, etc. are available even on regular Chevy and Ford cars, actually even on Nissan, Toyota, and Honda too.

Two of my co workers had BMWs and had $900 per month payments and $240 per month insurance. lol It is way too much to spend on a vehicle for me. I'd rather have money saved instead. Another friend of mine has a GMC Yukon Denali that costed $90,000. And a few have the large trucks that were around $65,000 each. Some even have to work extra years before retiring because of their expensive vehicle payments. I'd never do such a thing. It is mostly for people trying to show off, but they end up cash-poor. Their possessions own them.

I don't give a single shit what people think. Mercedes are REAL engineering, not some piece of shit that's designed to break, and it has nothing to do with the money or the prestige. The type of people who think that way are ignorant, no offense. These are the same people who say 'Techmology is evil' an don't have the first clue how it works. Furthermore, after I've got 200,000 miles and some idiot in his piece of crap Ford hits me, I'm going to bank so hard on his insurance company that I'll get another luxury car.

Also, just for your education, don't ever compare a Mercedes to a BMW, and especially not a Chevy or a Ford. Just because they all have four wheel and run on gasoline doesn't mean they're the same thing. A Mercedes is a Mercedes. Period.

They still break. They still have mechanical problems, and they still have many of the same features as other vehicles do that cost far less.
My grandfather's Toyota Tacoma only needed a new battery, oil change, and new plugs and never broke down and he drove it for more than 20 years until he couldn't drive anymore.
There are Chevy trucks that have lasted over 800,000 miles.

I have a Nissan Versa that costs less than 1/5th of a Mercedes and I ordered it with manual seats, windows, locks, etc. so I don't have to deal with that extra electrical garbage. 8 1/2 years later and not one problem. It works great. Many co workers with the same or greater income as me wasted their money on expensive vehicles and they are limited with what they can do and have to be more careful with their spending because they spent so much on a vehicle. I think other things in life are much more important.
