But now that I could afford it, I'm slowly researching this topic.
Have you ever donated to a charity and why is that?
But now that I could afford it, I'm slowly researching this topic.
You could say that. I've given a little money to beggars. One night, I gave a $20 to a guy on the street that could've probably been scamming me but he kinda sounded legit and I had the money to spare. Now, I'M doing the begging but, nobody's helping me!
If I was a billionaire, I'd LOVE to give money away to people that REALLY need it!! Go up to someone living under a bridge and hand them $100,000 and tell them to go buy a house.
But, IF you plan on giving to charities, make SURE you KNOW where that money's going to go!! I was trying to help out with one a few years ago and then, found out, they just pocket the money and it DOESN'T get used for the reason they were collecting it!!
Yes I do regularly but only ever for local independent charities. I don't support national or international charities as I often feel their work isn't as beneficial with huge amounts of their income wasted on bureaucracy, administration and with excessively high salaries and bonuses for their CEO's, it's just not something that I want to support. Local charities are far more worthwhile in making an actual change in your own community.
Donating time is appreciated as many charities struggle with volunteers. For years iv worked with Mental health, salvation army, local church community support, open kitchens on Christmas day is amazing. Also work alongside another charity so I offer free dance lessons/workshops a great way to generate a safe space for children to attend possible find a new passion.
i've done charity collections and i've like bought cakes at bake sales and given a pound to the school on non uniform days but i've never gone outta my way to do it - once i was on holiday and i had hardly any propa money just some random 1ps and 2ps and i just put it all in a charity box and that's about it

Yes, a homeless shelter. The workers there are awesome people, and they really care and make a difference in people's lives. They've gotten homeless people jobs, and housing, so I felt that supporting them with a couple hundred dollars made sense. Why not make our economy, neighborhood, and country better?
I do monthly, sub for Santa last month, volunteer at rape crisis center when I can. Pay it forward other times to help out those in need.
Have donated to the Red Cross before, as well as giving old clothing and other items to the domestic violence shelter.
@aerissa_jade you were a sub for Santa last month?
Santa as a Dom…
@ChrisMaster69 Of course, lol.
@aerissa_jade I am soo doing Kinky Santa for next years Christmas party.
I mentioned in the office, it seems Santas little helpers are really just a euphemism
@ChrisMaster69 I have a friend who she had a elf outfit that was super sexy, she looked really good in it. I never thought of getting one of those, but now next year I think I will.
Her job is in a unique store though so her outfit worked out just fine, the employees there dress kind of skanky.
Yep, several! Mostly women and children centers, planned parenthood, I've donated hair before, and up until the last 2 years we would regularly donate toys to those angel trees we would have at work. Our kids would even help pick something out for them.
I used to, but I don't do any major donations anymore because many of them are scams. Sometimes I'll take the offer at restaurants, stores, and online retailers to round up my total to benefit a worthwhile cause.
If there's something you feel strongly about, donate your time and effort, or get them the materials they need. Treat charities like panhandlers, especially if they aren't transparent with how they use the donations.
I put together a go fund me for a friend of mine who got shot in the face while on the job. Thankfully he survived and didn't have to pay for his surgery. He's doing great now.
Past that I've donated to a couple local charities and gofundme's. That was just the most personal to me.
Yes, i do.
But the charity i like the most i do myself.
I find a family in need and raise money at my college, and from family and friends.
The mother provides a Christmas list for their children.
I then use the money I raised and my money will pay for whatever the money I raised can't buy.
The thing that's amazing these kids usually have a few toys on it, but they also have things like clothes, books things most kids take for granted.
Yes I do, Mental Health mainly but also for local Homeless charities.
i used to do outreach work for homeless and also do it with mental health.
Things like winter comfort, food banks etc are really worthwhile.
@harleigh90
@chrismaster69 🥰 Don't ever change 💕
Yes and here is where my money goes

Yes. Every Christmas for the past few years I donate to two hospitals. I don't donate much for financial reasons but I contribute something. I think it's important because you never know when you'll need to rely on a hospital, especially if you need specialized care. I've spent enough times in hospitals to know that I want them to have the best equipment available to fix me up and get me the hell out of there as fast as possible.
Occasionally, but not much because, for most charities, less 10% (often less the 5%) of you donation goes the cause. Those that manage the charities, pay themselves ridiculously high salaries and most of what remains is invested in advertising to collect more donations.
I donated to a charity a few years ago. Then I found out that a political insider was hired to be the CEO at a big salary and the money that was supposed to be used to help people injured in an explosion was mishandled. I felt like an idiot.
I guess I do not believe in those charities. I would give a sandwiches or some money to some homeless. I would also help a friend who is in need some support. But I do not give a penny to charity when I have no view on how they spend the money.
Yes! Two of them. One is kids with cancer foundation and the second is for prostate cancer foundation (grow a mo and save a bro) . I am a member of bearded men group and we help make bracelets and sell it and give it all for the foundations.
I did a few times but I'd rather support some people directly. The percentage of "administration fees" (i. e. how much of the money reaches its intended destinations) within some/many charities really put me off.
Yes I often do, I give to the children who have cancer and to the poor, I love donating to charity plus Charity is literally my middle name, it's a beautiful name and I'm proud of it
I've volunteered at local soup kitchens, I frequently donate old clothes, I've both financially donated and participated yearly in walks for both Juvenile Diabetes and AIDS.
In the past, yes. These days I’m more inclined to donate clothes to a charity, or purchase something from them.
Yes, but you need to be careful. Some of them - even a lot of the corporate sponsored ones are basically scams. Make sure you find out exactly where and who your money is going to.
Oh yes. Quite often. Local homeless shelters. And to some of the National Parks. Sometimes the American Red Cross. Etc.
My family and I always have donated to charities, we can afford to and the charities are all for good causes.
I used to give regularly... then I saw a TV program that exposed that the majority of donations were used for more fund raising, not really helping the people... so I gave up, I give to people I know...
The last time is a while back.
I donated a small contribution to support Palestinians.
Why... I just can't stand Israel.
I give stuff to local charity shops all the time, because I don't like clutter, and if I'm not using something then there's no point in hanging on to it.
The Humane Society of Southern Arizona. I believe in thier cause.
I have 4 or 5 charities that I regularly donate to, typically a couple times each year.
Does government taxation count, lol. Without government, there wouldn't be any need for charity.
I have donated to reputable charity here and there. Besides the tax benefits it feels good to give of my resources to truly help others or animals in need.
Animal shelter, cleaning the oceans, secret donations to struggling people i know.
It's nice to solve a problem and i hate to see animals suffer.
I used to give to a local public radio station because I liked their message and programming.
I have donated to charities before, also to my local fire department and police force.
I like to start donating to our local fire department
I don’t donate but before corona I used to teach young kids who are refugees. Taught maths and sciences.
More rewarding then dumping money
Sounds like you have your own charity already. You need to tell your mom and sister to help out with the bills if they are not mentally handicapped
I haven't but I wouldn't donate to the ones on TV bc honestly u really don't know where the money is really going to. I would donate to a family that needed it
I do all the time. My work has tons of charities we vote on and help in any way we can.
When I go to pet smart to get treats for my cat Blondie I always donate a dollar. 💞
Do a lot of research you do not want to support corrupt big charities like Susan G. Komen as they were know for using the money for non-charity stuff, suing others breast cancer charities, etc.
I do it a lot and I wish I could be very rich I'd help as much as I can
Yes, I donated to a place that helps parents and kids with roofs over their heads and electricity.
Not sure if it counts, but I used to donate time (volunteer) at Planned Parenthood and the SPCA.
We do, because we can and they need it. We give a lot to food banks.
I believe in doing together more than giving money.
Yep, I donated to a college fund once before because I knew the guy running it
Every year. I don't have anything else I spend money on.
Yes to an animal shelter and to planned parenthood because i want the world to be better
I do it a few times a year. I do it because it makes me feel good to think I can be helping people in one way or another.
Yes have donated to many love to help people
even animal rescue
Nope, It hard for me to really trust charites.
Did 5 years at a food bank, I done my time
I've thought about it
I have donated for people with autism
I've donated some water
Yes, I donated to the Dave Thomas Foundation.
Nope, never. Mandatory tips, I suppose.
I'm so cool that charities donate to me
never given to charity
Islam already advises charity.
Beheading too, so maybe not the best reference point😗
Many times. An Animal Rescue
