+1 yI try to keep a perspective on my anger when possible, but I’m not without it. I totally understand what you are saying and yeah, it does make me feel kind of petty about some of my concerns. I suppose this form of relativism is how the term “first world problems” came into being. I’d probably go hide in a hole before I complain about how often I have to buy a new IPhone to always have the latest model. Lol.
That said I do get, however, that a problem can feel very real and painful even if it’s not as bad as someone else’s. I’m not sure about the IPhone, but i imagine other things like never having a partner can feel pretty bad.
In general, when I comes to complaining, I realize that it’s not realistic to grant only the person with the worst of everything the right to complain - imagine how hard it is to find someone like that. There always seems to be someone with a worse life somewhere. Secondly, nothing ever changes if people don’t complain or do something about it. I don’t believe in complacency. This tends to apply more broadly to social change, but the impulse to complain has its root in good things too.22 Reply- +1 y
In this case there was no cure so she had no choice in the matter. Yet she kept a positive outlook until the end.

She was definitely an admirable person, and a source of inspiration for others. My respect to her.
I also get kind of angry that people have to suffer like this at all. Nature is so cruel sometimes. I wish I could make it go away.

+1 yI bitch about a lot in my life. A lot went VERY VERY wrong. I would not say the circumstances in my life were good, in fact really bad, and sad. However; NOTHING in comparison to what this girl had to go through. And yes; your question was a reality check for me. Another thing; our time on this earth is very limited; which should be a reminder to all of us that despite our circumstances, we must TRY to give ourselves the BEST life we possibly can before the end.

Other than that, I think life is going pretty freaking well, and I can only pay my respects to those who weren't given the same lot in life. Like I'm not sure I would have been able to work retail. And I worked food service for a day and quit. So like I have mad respect for people in these jobs. And I have mad respect for the girl posted here.11 Reply- +1 y

+1 yAnd two biggest idiots of the two superpowers might start world war 3. Spending god knows how much money and resources for it. And while people defend capitalism and all the corporations that dump filth into our environment and place their precious profits over the lives of their employees and rest of humanity. There is this girl suffering. We could have helped her we could have cured her but no... Everyone has been taught and told that human beings are selfish so everyone accepts that and throws her into the fire like another piece of wood. Just another sacrifice to the money god

Sorry, but no. Researchers have been trying to understand, and then hopefully stop, "Progeria" also known as "Hutchinson-Gilford syndrome", for DECADES.
And guess what? Medical advances ARE NOT MADE when the people who make them are not rewarded for doing so. - +1 y

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yGood question. We always complain about something, we don't like what we have and we want more, we always blame ourselves or other people we see as the architects of our problems, always complaining that our problems are bigger. But we never give thanks, because we don't care about people other than ourselves those who suffer or have problems. I think we should be a little grateful. There are those who are worse off than us, those who have bigger problems than ours. We should always try to be humble and never be selfish or dark-hearted.
10 ReplyAlmost every single day of my life. Nothing ever seems to work out when you have a learning, developmental, or physical disability. Even autism spectrum disorders have a casual link to certain vaxxines like the DTP vaxxine, but the media, medical, and pharmaceutical institutions go out of their way to silence and dismiss any data and evidence supporting it such as the flawed vaxxine scheduling that such reputable Health agencies like the CDC.
I role my eyes every time one of the "normies" or neuro-typicals complain about how supposedly "bad" their life is.14 Reply- +1 y
Now you know why so many people don't like vaccines that haven't been thoroughly tested. When a person can still get a disease after they were vaccinated against it, I call that a Big Fail!

HFA and I agree with you. I'm doing damn well for myself considering I have a cleft palate on top of it (and all the stigmas and hate that come with it on top of the ones associated with autism) but I also know I wouldn't have had to kill myself to get to where I am right now if I had a normal, healthy brain.

Some days I just wake up and decide I'm going into "bare minimum" mode. I can afford to do it because at my job... we're really short on people. It's also a job where I can sort of just turn my brain off and go on auto pilot many nights. I've been guilt tripped for doing this but at the end of the day... I didn't fucking ask to be here in the first place.

+1 yI do everything to catch myself in that moment and take a step back. Everything that has happened in my life and where I am now came from my decisions, ergo it is my choice to sulk and be upset or to be happy and grateful.

One thing I remember when I get to those thoughts is a song by Shaggy. Keeping it Real. The chorus goes: "No matter how you're sad and blue, there's always someone who has it worse than you. Sometimes you gotta pay your dues. So don't worry, just push on through."
Bottom line. Things can always be worse.00 Reply 1.4K opinions shared on Other topic. You can’t live your life by someone else’s standards. There’s always going to be someone worse off than you but that doesn’t mean your own troubles are invalid. It’s very toxic to act like because someone has it worse, you’re not entitled to feel any depth of emotion towards your own situation.
43 Reply- +1 y
But you also cannot delve too deep into your own problems that you don't have empathy for others.
Here's the problem with your perspective imho- none of us were responsible for this woman's struggles. If anything, that video is a grim reminder of why I've found myself agreeing with antinatalists. We shouldn't look at situations like this and gaslight ourselves... if anything we should be shaming the parents. They typically put their deformed children on blast for the clout and media attention... I've seen it happen way too many times and it's pretty pathetic.
Just because someone has it "worse" does not mean your problems are not valid. You can't control what happens outside your sphere of influence. This is one of the biggest lessons I learned in the past few years.20 ReplyYou’re right, I need to stop crying about my own shit. Just hard sometimes when i’m really stressed out.

I hear ya. We all get stressed out but does being stressed out actually add a single day to our lives?
Just be grateful for our lives…no one is perfect, everyone has their battles whether from birth, disorders, diseases, accidents, disasters, and the list goes on.
I was born with a disorder myself, I’ve been in and out of hospital stays most of my life, I've battled to gain wait because it’s extremely easy for me to lose weight where it becomes dangerous and I’ve had too many feeding tubes to count and I’m still grateful for my life and what it has become, because there are others that have it worse than you or I.
I too have faced a lot of unfairness growing up because of it, read my mytake if you want.
We as a society look down on people who are different, it’s disgusting and it’s unfortunate what her and so so many more souls have gone through.

+1 yI complain because I wish god had not given me such a pathetic life, I look like sloth from the Goonies, even my own family hated the way I look, the even abandoned me the moment I got my own place, I had what I thought were friends but the way they treated me my therapist says they weren't my friends.
I've never been shown love of any kind. Females love to lie and say it's not about appearance but confidence, well my life experience tells me otherwise, if you look like me confidence and personality don't mean anything when it comes to dating.
Life sucks and even as an ugly guy it's worse because no one cares about you at all.00 Reply There's something unfair and disrespectful about using that girl's tragic fate to shake a virtual stick at people who quite humanly give in to frustration and occasionally complain about their own circumstances.
It's as if, because you indulge in pitying her, rather than respecting her, that you want to blame people who gripe for making you feel that way.
In defense of the gripers, part of taking action to improve one's own situation does, necessarily, after all, involve a realistic assessment of the issues to be confronted. To give in to griping about the general circumstances thus revealed is not really a crime that deserves to be chastised in this manner and cannot in any way justify disturbing Adalia Rose's right to rest in peace.24 Reply- +1 y
I knew there had to be one in the crowd that complained about my thread about people who complained all the time when there were people worse off than them. Thank you for confirming this. But I'm sure you would rather hear guys complaining about their dicks or girls complaining that guys only want them for sex. *rolls eyes*.

Yes, I see you have never asked any questions of your own. Instead, you like to complain about someone else's questions.

donate a year to another... interesting thought in terms of community work... work 10 years, donate a year. I intend to get to more charity work this year.00 Reply Yeah, sometimes I have to remind myself that there are some people out there that have even worse bodies than mine, despite my initial beliefs. I won't pretend like I'm super happy and my body has any positives, but things COULD be worse. I genuinely feel so bad for all the people out there that ended up like that. No one deserves that. Or a micropenis (not to be random).

+1 yI'm a relative thinker. I think if I wanna make this life relatively better, I might do this. It doesn't lead to much complaining because I'm always seeing room for improvement. The idea of being grateful or resentful doesn't click with me. I only got this to work with and I didn't choose it. I can make it better or worse.
02 Reply- +1 y
I really don't know if my life is better or worse than anyone else's. Not even that girl. Maybe she has a great support group. She's got media coverage. So I'm not grateful for my life. I'm also not resentful. I just got this hand dealt that was dealt to me. I try to play that hand well.
- +1 y
Maybe the death thing gets some people. Like it's so tragic that someone died so young. I don't know. Maybe she got peace when she was young. I really don't know anything. Does someone know something that they can say whose life is better than the other? Until I meet that someone, I neither feel grateful nor resentful for where I'm at. If I wanna make it better, I got endless room to improve.
No. I have definitely experienced my fair share of difficulties, but I have a fantastic life overall.
That beauty queen who killed herself last month really put things into perspective for me. It's amazing to think that you can literally have THE life that everyone dreams of having, but still die of loneliness because you lack relationships with other people; the single most important thing in life.00 Reply1.7K opinions shared on Other topic. No. Not saying that because I have lived a better life than most. But because I understand life is not all good times and sometimes you've got to fight.

@Curmudgeon Yes, it is basically a death sentence. You know that you will be dead by the age of 13 for most who have the disease. She stretched it by 2 years. I know people who are dying of cancer who are happy when they are given 2 more years to live instead of a couple of months.

@daniela1982 well sure, but please don't assume that if we give all our money to Big Government, they would solve this and other human tragedies for us. The whole history of the 20th Century and the beginning of the 21st century has been a lesson that the case is all too often otherwise.

1st off governments piss our money away everyday so dont even say if you would pay this or that bc thats stupid and 2nd exit is right bc for decades us AMERICANS have bailed out or defended pretty much EVERY country in one way or another so yes we are pissed on by every ungrateful country in this world. all of us are aloud to bitch and complain bc each and everyone of us doesn't like something about ourselves bc NO ONE IS PERFECT
