Where is the strangest place you've found a lost item?

Did you find a lost item in a place you never thought it would be? You never thought to look there? Where was it?  I had two sets of keys I had to carry. One of them had a heavy metal keychain ornament connected to the set. I would put the keys in my pocket and hang the ornament out.  One day I was moving my dogs crates around, having homebuilt a heavy shelf to stack them in the corner. When lifting the top crate to place it, it snagged this keychain and the keychain disappeared underneath the crate. It was missing for two years until I moved the entire unit to the other side of the room.  Wiped the crate down and washed bedding weekly, but never a need to remove the tray itself, which hid the keys. That was my most unusual find. Was so happy! What is yours?

I got my ex’s sister and her boyfriend a $50 gift card to an Italian restaurant for Christmas, along with some household items for Christmas. I placed the gift card in an old purse in my closet to save when I’m ready to wrap everything. So I go to do that, rice sock, candle, chocolate, socks, and the kitchen sign are all in a bag ready to go. And so am I, because I stayed up late wrapping it, and my ex and I were in a hurry to get to his family’s Christmas breakfast on time. It didn’t hit me that I had forgotten the gift card until it came time to open presents, and when she did, I noticed she was missing something. I thought about where it could be, and I had completely forgotten where I placed it. I searched that purse, along with everything else, and I couldn’t find it. Almost a year goes by and I suddenly remember that it’s still missing and it has to be in the Christmas bags (because I had tried out a few making sure everything was able to fit) the card wasn’t there. After 11 months, I decide to look back into the purse, and there it was- zipped up inside, an unchecked pocket. And yes I kept it! Her brother and I had broken up months before that on a zero communication basis so I treated myself to unlimited soup, salad, & breadsticks, and more!!

I lost an earring once. The matching earring was on my dresser, so it makes sense that's where the other should have been. I searched everywhere, under the dresser, under the bed, anywhere it could have bounced.

5 years later, I was going through a box of stuff and found my earring in the bottom of the box. I recalled having that box open in my bedroom and the earring must have somehow fell into the box and I put the box away without knowing the earring was even missing.

I'm a bit absent-minded sometimes, especially when I'm really focused on my work. So I had a pair of socks that I was going to put on in a hurry while running late but also thinking about algorithms and data structures and so forth.

But then I lost the socks. I could have sworn they were in my hand a minute ago. So I looked at my desk, our kitchen table, bathroom, and I couldn't find them. So I asked my wife if she saw my socks and she said no.

So I ended up grabbing another pair and putting them on but was so confused.

Anyway, my wife found them in the refrigerator later. I think I must have put them in there while grabbing some iced coffee.

My ex-wife was notoriously unfaithful, at least 3 sperm donors that I know about.
She used to lie to me and say she was going to a female friend's for bible study and left me at home with our toddler son. She and her current Dick would go to a local and secluded parking area and have car sex.

Fast forward past the nasty divorce and my remarriage to a girl with a good sense of humor. One day she picked a Bible study guide I had brought with me from the old regime. When she opened it an unopened condom fell out onto the floor.
My ex lost it. My new wife found it.

I was cooking and only had one onion and I knew I took it out of the fridge. I had to halt everything I was doing and go hunting for it. Fifteen minutes later, I found it...in the freezer. I had the thing in my hand as I went to get some frozen stuff out and had set it down in there, because I couldn't do it with one hand. I laughed a lot at that one. I also lost my keys one day when I was of course running late, and couldn't find them, but thankfully had one set of spares so off I went. I spent an entire week looking for my main keys. I tossed EVERYTHING at home and at work, though I knew it couldn't be there, otherwise, how did I get home. I called friends and family to see if the ones that had come over had maybe accidentally taken them. I started thinking, what if I dropped them outside somewhere and someone would have access to my house, ugh! Come to find out a week later, the keys were hanging in the lock inside from a side door to my house that I basically never go out of unless I'm on the patio, which I was. I was pissssssseeedddd.

I'm a touch OCD about where I put things, I generally have only a couple of places where I'd put some items so where it isn't in those places it gets me frustrated as to where they are.
Also I'm pretty sure my current home is haunted, some weird shit goes on around here, so when something does go missing I often wonder.
I had a spare set of glasses go missing once, I rarely wear them but they weren't in the place they are normally kept, I couldn't find them anywhere. Then a couple of weeks later I was spring cleaning one of the guest bedrooms and opened a drawer that I barely ever go into and there they were.

Found some jewelry in a hole in my backyard, I suspect the dog accidently got it on her, then dug a hole trying to get a squirrel and it fell off in it... the hole was not buried so just laying there. Thing is I didn't even know it was missing, just walking around and saw it.

Dog may have tried to get some food and got it on accident.

I found my small notepad in kitchen snacks drawer! I was planning to munch on some M & Ms while writing depressing notes (notepad is for sad notes) and I probably took it with me to drawer and left it over there only 🙆. at least not weird like my sister. She found her long lost eraser in toilet!

Ilost my wallet at the beach. By the time I realized it the tide had come in and where I was sitting was under water. I went back the next day at low tide and I actually found it close to where I was sitting.

My pocket hahahahahaha. I had a nice pocket knife that was lost for years. Long story short I was going through old clothes to donate and there it was. Who would've guessed a lost pocket knife would be in a pocket this entire time.
