In the US, he military uses a 24 hour clock and a few larger institutions such as some hopitals also use the 24 hour clock, but the rest of the country uses a 12 hour clock.

I prefer the 24-hour system (just as I prefer the metric system). AM/PM is the common time system here in the USA, so I use it in daily life.
