If someone threw a cat or dog in the lake but it swims, is it still animal cruelty?

Last week someone with bad intention threw my friend's poodle on the lake and left. Fortunately it knew how to swim (it's been trained before) and came back. My friend is trying to find that lowlife.

Would that still classify as animal cruelty? If someone threw a cat or dog in the lake but their plan gladly backfires and it can swim back?

Well, yeah, but are you sure it was ill-intentioned? I mean, it's a POODLE. The name literally means "to splash about"; they're excellent water dogs. If it you're sure, I suppose it's good that the awful person was stupid, but still...

Yes that person threw the dog and thought the dog would drown. The person left thinking the dog was going to sink. I'm glad it backfired. Stupid person indeed.

Mm… I would say it’s more so animal cruelty if the animal can’t swim and the person doesn’t dive in to help get it back out.




That or if the person legitimately tries to drown the animal

No. All animals can swim. But if you have witnesses then you can make a case of damaging and taking your property
