Should I have ran faster to save this turtle? I feel horrible about it 😭😭?

So I was out for a morning run earlier today and I saw this turtle on the street and waved to it as I was coming up to it.

I was a few paces away when all of a sudden this speeding car passes by and completely crushed the turtle 😭 I felt absolutely horrible because if I would’ve ran faster I could’ve saved it’s life 😭

Awww damn that sucks.. my son had a turtle and he took in in to the back yard to eat grass and bugs went in to the house for a min when he went back outside he couldn't find it I just got home and he told me about it we looked everywhere you think a turtle is not very fast but a year later we are moving out of that house and it had a basement in it which it was locked nobody could go down there but the owner of the house came by and opened up the downstairs basement and we found the turtles down there lived in that basement for one year just eating flies and whatever else I guess it's could fine. but it had grown

Hindsight is great, but it isn't reality. You were taking steps to save the turtle. You had no idea a speeding car might come up. Had you reached the turtle, you may have been the one crushed by the speeding car. It's good to be a caring person, but never expect yourself to be able to save everyone and everything. I'm sorry you had to see this pointless loss of life.

It was horrific to see the splatter of the turtle afterwards too, I cried for a couple of minutes because of being in complete shock 😔😭

You are right though, if I did run faster then maybe I would’ve been hit and that would’ve been horrible too ❤️

Aww well it happened now you know if anything that you come across next time, don’t think twice and do something about it but of course be careful and look at your surroundings first. Maybe next time you’ll come across a human being and this might have been a test either way your intentions were good.

You’re right ❤️ I realized afterwards that I should’ve tried to have gotten it off the street even though there were no cars around at that moment when I was waving at it 😔

I think next time I see something on the street I’ll look around and try to get them off of it, it’s just too dangerous for an animal especially 😔

Don’t feel guilty about this. Unfortunately it was in the street and that is a risky area for any animals to be, because there are drivers who don’t have the time to stop or swerve.

I think next time I see an animal or a person on the street I’m going to look around and then try and get them to safety ❤️ I don’t want the same thing to ever happen again 😭

That’s good. You also have to worry about your safety too. You could get hit by a car if you crossed the road or tried to run faster. You did all that you could, but it’s not your fault at all!

You’re right ❤️ Maybe if I ran faster I would’ve been the one who got hit because I wouldn’t have been able to look over for the car and see where the turtle was at the same time, and that would’ve been tragic too 😔

Simply put you didn't know that was going to happen and even if you did the only thing that would have changed is that instead of there being a dead turtle there would be a dead person which is even worse
