Do you take decisions immediately or after considering all aspects?

It's extremely contextual to me like how long I have to make the decision, the risk vs. reward of venturing a riskier one, etc.

In my field as a software engineer, I'm extremely headstrong and impulsive compared to most of my colleagues. But the way I mitigate the risks and costs associated with a poor decision is to make it as cheap as possible and fail as early as possible. I prototype more than just about anyone. So I make bad ideas cheap and often arrive at the more promising ideas almost through brute force.

Snap decisions come more easily to me along with improvisation than carefully thought out and planned ones. Yet if I have a lot of time to make one, I become very analytical and start weighing the pros and cons of every possible option.

Most of the time, I prefer to make snap decisions and just seek to make them cheaper and less risky. I've seen my share of even carefully-weighed decisions backfire, and so I prefer the strategy of making decisions cheaper and less risky rather than deliberating over them endlessly.

I'm also an inventor type of sorts. I work in R&D for computer graphics often coming up with new computer graphics techniques not published in any existing paper. Yet when my colleagues ask me how I arrive at my solutions, the answer probably disappoints most. I don't have any stroke of genius or some mastery of planning and decision-making -- far from it. I just try to implement every single idea that pops into my head -- the vast majority of which are bad and dumb in hindsight -- throwing out bad solution after bad solution until I luckily stumble into a good one.
