Is this a mean thing to say to an infertile woman?

I know someone that's infertile. She has known her issue (something to do with a deformed uterus and something else too) since her teen years and inability to ever carry a baby full term. She had early 3 miscarriages.

Someone else once said ''At least you don't have to worry about an unwanted pregnancy. Think about it. You can have endless sex.'' She obviously got pissed off. Honestly wasn't that mean to say to an infertile woman?

Imagine being in her shoes
She can't have a child even if she wants to that's a choice that was taken from her

Also to make it worse it's not that she can't conceive it's that she will constantly have miscarriages


When a woman is pregnant she naturally grows attached to the baby so much so that they have tendency to go to levels that some might find horrifying
I personally like this aspect though and always feel overjoyed seeing a mother lover her unborn child to such a degree


Now imagine that baby you have come to love and maybe even started obsesse over dies in your womb
That would be devistating
Now imagine it happens multiple times

Our bodies are very complicated…. Our minds r connected to our bodies an our ears too. So anything that has to do with normal reproductive issues makes us feel.. less of a woman. It’s horrible and uncomfortable. U should say nothing about it.. it’s personal and nothing 🤨

That definitely sounds like a very ignorant thing to say to someone who can't have children. Some people just have no sense of social awareness or what is acceptable and not acceptable to say in certain situations.

I actually have a cousin that is infertile, she went through menopause extremely early and had absolutely no eggs. She tried for years to have kids, and it was the only thing she ever wanted.

In contrast, I got my girlfriend pregnant when I was 13 and my cousin was 40. She absolutely hated me and started treating me like shit, and still does to this day. Another cousin talked to her and she admitted how jealous of me she was that I was going to be a father at 14, but she will never be a mother. My sister was the same way, she started trying to have a baby at 18, but due to medical issues she couldn't get pregnant most of the time, and they doubted she would ever be able to carry a baby to full term. My sister is 8 years older than me, and she had a baby girl that just turned 1 a few months ago. I was so happy for her when she had her daughter because I know how my older cousin always felt.

So I'm well aware that infertile people can be extremely sensitive about it. I always try to be sensitive and say as little as possible. It is so untactful to say something like that when you know someone is infertile. The vast majority of the time they don't care about "unlimited sex" they just wanted to be a parent someday.

Yea mostly if she wants to have kids, what the person is basically saying to the person is that someones only purpose of having sex with her is for fun cause she can't reproduce so I can see why it's insulting.

It wasn't meant to be mean, but it was tone deaf. I think the infertile woman probably could've taken it more gracefully, since no harm was meant, but I still understand why she got upset.

She technically isn’t infertile because she still gets pregnant but can’t hold the child so it’s an insult and not true
