How could I make a dog pick me as its favourite person?

This is a dog that my friend gave away and it's been the second day that it's been sleeping in my house thus so far. It has also been attached to my friend for a very long time. :)

It can take animals a while to acclimate and feel secure. Trust is the key.

Make a quiet, comfy place for it.

The way to a dog's heart is food. Start by letting it see you place food down in front of it before walking away to let it eat. Later, try holding tasty bits in your hand and holding them under the dog's nose. See if it will work up the nerve to take it. If not at first, try again later.

Sit on the floor near it and speak in a kind, reassuring voice. See if it will allow you to reach out under its chin so it can sniff you. If it does, you can try itching it's chin or petting the side of its face. Do NOT reach out to touch the top of its head initially.

Let the dog work up the nerve to come out and explore on its own. When it comes up to cautiously sniff your pant leg, let it. At that point, try reaching out slowly with your palm up and let the dog lick it. Have some treats ready.

Dogs are pack animals, so they love companionship. Once it trusts you, it will want to be near. It will soon come up on your bed of its own accord.

No. LOL My wife and I have had several cats over the years. We now have two.

Just go up and like start with the ears and then when it realizes you wanna play you can slowly work to the stage it starts liking you and ya can hug it.

I just want to know how to get to the point where it wants to sleep with you in your room and start listening to you and following you everywhere. This is the dog's new home.

Thats how my niece has 4 GIANT German shepherds that she walks around the block and she is only 8 years old XD And they stand at the shoulder at her head height.

Oh wow! That's amazing! Do the German shepherds favour her?

She raised them from puppies and her parents got them from a pure breeder as 4 siblings so they are super all connected and she is probably gonna end up a dwarf/mini person into her older years. So very much indeed she can actually ride them too even at 8 years. Which is pretty impressive. LOL.

Also dogs respond better to just being pet more than even treats. Just becareful about letting it like SLEEP on you if in bed as they can also become very VERY protective. Especially if that dog knows you are a close friend of its previous owner. XD. (Dogs can also be a great sense of character with humans. If your partner is doing something shaddy the dog might be able to smell it and star hating them.) Small warning O... O

Yup and then it should like follow you everywhere XD. Even without a leash if done right.

Oooooo! Tell me more about the "if done right" part because I'm very intrigued now. Haha.

You need to basically get them use to playing with toys and then they will learn to chase after you and or stay by you really quick. Even with older dogs its a great trick to get them use to following you. As you can then in like a field walk backwards and they will chase you even faster XD.
