I tried starting my car today and it wouldn't start also I have the original remote keys for it, and it started to light up and then it stopped?

A dying battery (i. e., worn out and not holding a full charge) is the most likely reason. It could also be that the battery terminals are loose or corroded - they need to be clean and tight.

If you want to try to fix it yourself, jump on YouTube and watch a few "my car doesn't start" videos and you'll see the common reasons and fixes for them. Most of the time, it's something reasonably simple.

yeah well my dad took it to the shop to fix it and the guy is on it

It could be anything from a low or dead battery to a starter problem or it could even be the keys as well.

I'm not sure about the keys since they are the original ones for my dodge avenger rt

Cars are very complex. If you have a keyless ignition, maybe the battery in the key fob is dead.

keyless ignition is that there is no ignition lock on the steering column. You have a button on the dash board and if the key fob is in close proximity to the car, it will start.

I do not know. If you do not have an ignition lock on the steering column than you do. Try changing the battery on your key fob and see if it starts after thst.
