Does the Start/Stop feature in your car still work?

I have trained myself to automatically press the disable button right after I start my truck so the Start/Stop feature doesn't work. My wife recently told me that she had noticed that the start/stop feature stopped working on her car. I thought it was some kind of malfunction. The more I thought about it the more I wondered if it still worked on my truck. So yesterday I did not press the disable button and while driving around town I noticed that my engine did not stop. I purposely put the brake on for several seconds and the engine did not stop. We both drive Ford products. I wonder if Ford has upgraded the software on their models to disable this.

I know that Lee Zeldin, the head of the EPA has eliminated this feature on cars. Maybe Ford is doing it as a service to its customers.

I cannot find anything about it on the internet but I have to take my wife's car to the dealer next month so I will ask the service manager whats up with this.

It turns out that if your battery is weal the Stop/Start feature will not work. I got a new battery and the damn thing started working again.

I have that feature on my car. It drives me crazy that I have to press the disable button every time I start it. The dealer says there is no way they can disable it. I just found some thing on line that sells you a small jumper like product that disables it. Trouble is you have to pull half the dash & counsel apart to plug it in.

I turn that off as soon as I start my car because it’s an annoying “feature”. The dealer told me it ruins the starter too.

Try running the car without disablei the feature and see if the engine stops when you are sitting with the brake on.

I once drove a rental car with the start/stop feature. It just drove me crazy.

I can understand the importance of shutting down the engine when you have to stop for a longer time, like waiting at a railroad crossing. I'm still able to think and act accordingly. I don't need any gimmick to do that for me.

If your car has its defrost on, the rune\stop will not work, or if your AC is running. Also check your battery, it may be low or failing.

I shut off the A/C and the heater. I stopped at a long red light and the engine never quit. I have to take my wife's car to the dealership next month so I will ask the service manager about it.

I don’t have it, but it made me laugh. When I go to get my license tabs, I have to opt out of all the shit I don’t want. Only the government can come up with shitty ideas you have to opt out of.

Yes, this was the most ridiculous thing that the democrats ever rammed down out throats. It was really stupid to make motorists shell out a thousand buck every 3 or 4 years for a new starter just to save 12 bucks worth of gas.

Every time your car comes to a stop the engine turns off. So if you’re going across town and back, rather than start your car twice, you get to start it 90 times. The people who make sell starters love this idea.

besides having the starter motor fail prematurely sometimes if I have to pull out across a line of traffic, that split second when the car has to start up again could be enough of a lag that it could get you dead.

My 15 year old Toyota uses a key, (that you turn for start/stop) not a stop/start button. I like it that way.
