Why can you hear through my window?

It’s double glazed, but with all the windows closed you can hear absolutely everything outside. Any clues what’s wrong?

they are not meant to be soundproof at all... they will just reduce some of the noise

sounds are waves of energy, and they're still going to come through... even a triple panel window will reduce the noise to just half of it, so...

Could be vents built into the windows, or it could be that rubber seals around the windows that open have come loose. Otherwise you should hear things so clearly.

It is probably also coming through your walls in addition to the windows.

I'm guessing you have little to no insulation in the walls, which is how the sound is getting in.

Glass can transmit vibrations I had replacement windows installed and they were lot quieter.
