Why would someone knock on my window at 2 am?

So it been two days in a rows that some person (I don't know if men or woman but it seem to be a man) that knock on my window (he did it 3 time and was more and more agressive the more he did it) and then today I hear him roaming during 1 hours around my house, I'm extremely scared I didn't answer it and went to bed.

I thought it was just a druggies the first time or something trying to get some light for his cigarette but two days in a row is ways creepier especially since I heard him whistle and roaming around my house for 1 hours...

I don't know what to do is it so creepy and the police don't come in my area because there's too many druggies, drugs dealer and criminals in general.

You can do many things within legal limits of any hole country. It's your own home.

A less intense version would be to fake it, with a programmable audio player connected to a motion sensor and subwoofer, blasting the sound of gun shots from your direction and sounds of shit flying around where the bullets supposedly land behind the area where the intruder is supposed to be.

At the very least lay out "carpets" the surface of which is strong glue, every night, similar to rat traps, to get his shoes stuck.

And you could make your own pepper spray if they are not sold in France. Doesn't matter if it's a huge tank, it doesn't need to be too portable and concealable if you only need it in your own home.

You could use a portable nail gun, 100% electrically powered with built in compressor.

In such a district you live, I expect this behavior to be common, it's not just your window, it's a lot of others people's window. Random people, random reasons, random behaviors. As such it does not mean you are personally targeted by that, so just ignore.

What to do?
Close the damn shutters/curtains please, having them opened attracts such behaviors. Don't give them an incentive. Police will move in such area, however, and it is unfortunate, only when the events you signal are severe enough. This event is not, objectively, severe enough. I mean it as good news !

Last month there were like 10 cops on my street. Well I think they TRIED to break in. My dad had some shady people over when my mom and I were in Spain and the Pyranees. They stole some stuff and I guess they tried to come back and break in.

I didn't and he actually knocked on my window which is even creepier cause I have big window and from them you can literally see everything inside of my house
I thoughts it was s druggies or something but he did this two days in a rows, this time he also spent 1 hours whistling around my house

None, I was too afraid to look at him so I just turned off the light and went in my bedroom to hide.
Yesterday like I thought it was just a druggie or something I didn't bother to go look for his face because I was thinking of hiding mine more (like I didn't had all the light on just one so he wasn't able to see my face much I think)
and today I didn't see him at all I was so afraid that when I heard him around my house I went to hide in my room directly I didn't even think of looking at him

You should carry something with you life a knife or something, or if you can carry a machete and put it in your room, my go to is a gun but if I recall you live in France, I don't think y'all have guns like that

We can't have gun, we can only get a rifle if we're hunter and Im' not, I will just take a kitchen knife. I have lots of them.
Machete exist only on our Island I don't think we can get on on mainland France.

Oh okay fair enough, a knife works I guess, if you can put items that would be loud if dropped on the floor behind the doors and windows it will make noise if they tumble it, if they try breaking in, asleep or not, you should hear it.

Yep you can also booby trap the areas around like the window ledges and behind the door with cooking oil, to higher the chances of them slipping and falling into all your loud stuff, well the door there's really no way around but with the windows, and try to put the things in places where it won't be visible like a stack of places on the floor behind the counter that's in front a cabinet by the window, in case they try moving the cabinet for example, the cabinet hits the plates because they were clueless on the plates you placed in a blind spot.

Yea I do but I just got a gun and there's castle law here, if they are forcing themselves into my territory and I fear for my life or anyone in my house, I by law have the rights to use lethal force, I did use extra street smarts to help you with your situation tho 😆

You're lucky, i wish we could have those laws here for this kind of situation I would definitely feel better if we could get a gun and use it.

I really hope it did so you can feel safer in your home, mostly if you are by yourself, also lock yourself in your room with your knife and make sure the knife is near you but not visible but easily accessible, put stuff behind your closed room door too.

It does help to make me feel safer especially since they were burglar this summer. They arrested the guy, it was actually the guy that used to live in front of my house. He's a know druggie and also stabbed his friend years ago so I guess the police react for one time in their life. I'm not sure if they're going to keep him or not though but at least for now it's ok
