Do. you separate your laundry or just wash it all together?

Question

The only time I separate mine is if I'm washing sheets otherwise stuff gets stuck in them... I'll also wash my period underwear and reusable pads, separately or just with some towels

Separated- about 90-95% of the time. ( There ALWAYS seems to be a last-minute straggler pair of undies or socks. )

Every week, rain or shine!
Weekly load 1 - Dark/non-white towels, linens.
Weekly load 2 - White/light sheets, tighty whiteys, light T-shirts, white shirts.
Weekly load 3 - Darks, sport shirts, pants, loungewear, dark undies, socks, darker shirts.

As needed-
Rag batch (maybe once a month or so)
Linens (at spring housecleaning time).
Heavy, winter sportswear (end of spring before going away into a closet for 6 months).
Tablecloths and linens (at Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc)

I separate my stuff out.

darks together.

coloureds in together, with a colour catcher.

then stuff like running kit and mountain biking stuff goes in on its own, mainly due to mud and muck.

i avoid wearing white like the plague, so not white washes.

however that all changes when daughter here and I have here n others stuff to wash.

Blokes clothes are fairly easy to sort, girls are just some satanic joke on trying to sort clothes, I tend to give up and shove in as delicates.

I used to do a lot of separating, like for colors but also I would even wash all my underwear and bras separately because I found it kinda gross to wash them with the other clothes. But I stopped doing that because a few years back when I was in an apartment where I had to wash my laundry somewhere else, I had my entire load of bras/underwear stolen out of the machine by some creep. I was living paycheck to paycheck at the time and so literally had to go without any bras or underwear for 3ish months. Now I only separate out white/gray clothes and clothes that need special washing like washing on cold for example.

I like to separate generally. Dark clothes can be washed on a cold setting meanwhile white/light fabrics are usually warm/hot. Putting on washes for towels/tea towels is nice too as they can be dirtier.

I’ll usually wash sheets, towels, and blankets all together. And then do all my clothes together, regardless of color.
Separating lights from darks is a myth, I’ve been washing them together for years and nothing has happened to them lol

So, I used to separate my laundry, specifically certain wool wocks, lighter-colored shirts, etc.
Now, I don’t really separate stuff and I don’t see that it has had any detrimental effects on any of my clothes. I do turn everything inside out though.

I almost never where whites - virtually all of my daily-wear clothing is dark colored - so I typically don't need to separate my clothes. I was towels and bed sheets separately, and on those rare occasions where I wear whites or very light colors, I'll wash those separately, but, again, my normal day-to-day stuff doesn't need to be separated, so it isn't.

Not really, we have never done that. I don't have to worry about the colour going cause the clothes we buy are usually heavy coloured clothes which have the colour sticking to it for a much longer time. When it comes to whites, I only have white shirts, which usually are given to an outside laundry with all the other formals. And just like you we just separately wash the sheets.

All together yea obviously the sheets separate cuz stuff gets inside of it all the time although there is a new product that helps to you so that doesn't happen I forgot the name of it but it's on Amazon and that's a good idea to wash your period underwear separate and your reusable pads now that I can understand yeah dont wash that stuff with everything else thats a good guide line but ik someone people wash work clothes separate

I separate my work cloths and day cloths. Especially pants because 6 pairs of pants is about the limit of most washers and dryers. Besides this like you said sheets are a bitch when washing.

I separate the dryer more.
