Why do few people find dark humor funny?

At times (not too often) I like playing pranks on friends and relatives. However, I tend to mainly include dark humor on it.

Examples of what my pranks woud look like:
- Called and pretended I've been stabbed during a robbery. Then let them find me bloody. ''Gotcha, it's a prank''.
- I just cheated with your best friend and well I think I'm pregnant. ''Gotcha, it's a prank''. Though I haven't done that prank yet.
- The one I played last year, faking coughing and pretending to have Covid. ''Gotcha, it's a prank''.

Ah this isn't dark humour. This is more pranks that push the boundaries to try push other people's buttons as a attention seeking thing.
Psychologically this is a common thing so it's not hard to understand lucky. But it's indeed more of a problem than just a dark joke.
It's not used to actually be funny so when it's not funny for the other person it makes sense.
It's a bit like how dark humour also ain't it, if someone is just expressing offensive views they actually believe.

Dark Humour has to be very clear it's a joke right away not something that makes people worry that you are really screwed up.
I would suggest finding a healthier way to get people's attention for sure. Tbh I would find these only fun like pretending dying if the person is actually dying like Gotcha not really bed. Because making a joke of serious issue helps in someway. But that reasoning for doing it shows that's not a thing done to be funny it's done because something really wrong is going on.
Whether a cry for attention or the person is literally dying.

What you're doing here is just... simply not funny. I don't know what else to tell you. These are not the kinds of "pranks/jokes" that people find funny.

They are things which illicit an immediate reaction of anger or fear... only to go "haha... just kidding".

Like... those kinds of things just aren't funny. They make people feel horrible (angry, scared, etc) for a split second... then you relieve them of feeling that way by telling them it's a joke. Well... people don't enjoy that. They don't find it funny.

I am not trying to be mean. I assume you're asking because you genuinely want to know why people don't find your humor funny.

THe short answer is: those 'pranks' are simply not funny to anyone but you. You need to switch up your style, if you hope to make anyone laugh.

Yes, good! But I think you need to more than "tone it down". You need to look at the NATURE of your pranks. They make people feel bad... then you relieve them of that by saying "just kidding". The ENTIRE structure of those 'pranks' you need to change. Like you need to change "direction" comedically. At least you're open to changing... that's a first step. But yes... you NEED to change this. For the sake of everyone in your life. Please. 🙂

I love dark humor one time i was managing a parts store and every morning i would put together a change order and put it in a zip up bank bag and my driver would go to the bank and just hand them the bag and they would fill the order and give it to him but on this day i thought it would be funny to write on a piece of paper "Fill the bag with large bills this is a robery" lol knowbody thought it was funny but I did my driver was pissed but he calmed down after a few hours. I have done way worse than that , waaay worse 10 fold

Calling in false wounding can be a case for suing under causing undue distress, and malicious intent - at its easiest.

False pregnancy can be seen as entrapment and/or libel. You already saw what Depp got for his libel case.

Faking Covid carries a 6 month prison sentence or unlimited fine if prosecuted.
