What's better a house or an apartment?

Like a lot of things everything has its PRO’s as well as its CON’s & I try to look at things from every angle. As for me I own a house & before I did I rented a lot of apartments over the years & to be honest I was throwing money away & paying for something that wasn’t even mine. With a house you are responsible for its upkeep & maintenance so if something goes wrong it’s coming out of you pocket. With an apartment if something goes wrong all you have to do is pick up the phone & problem solved. With a house you have yard work & with an apartment you don’t. With a house if you have a mortgage you are paying your own mortgage & with an apartment you have rent & you are probably paying someone else’s mortgage & get nothing out of it. With an apartment your neighbor farts you hear it on the other side of the wall & with a house you can fart all you want you have more privacy.

If you can afford it, a house is better. A house is an asset while an apartment is just a debt. Plus, you can do what you want with a house... color, remodel it, change layout, etc, which you can't do in an apartment. And, an apartment usually comes with noisy neighbors on all sides around you while a house is usually separate, less noisy.

I would prefer a small house or 1 large room apartment till the time I'm independent and single. Not much to clean and less house hold chores and I can concentrate more on work. Also it's more cozy and roomie. If I have a housemate (most probably my sister, cousin or best friend) then I will go for a flat or average home.

I'd say depends on your stage of life and what activities you enjoy. If you are busy working and are moving often apartments would be great. If you have time to chill out, maybe in a garden, and taking care of the property a house would be good, especially if you have kids.

There's pros and cons to both. Financially though it's better for you having a house as that's an asset you'll have, that you can potentially sell later (if you want) and it can open doors for you as far as getting other loans etc. And these days, the cost of rent in most places is just as much (or sometimes more) than a mortgage payment. But it depends on you and what you want also. Owning a house also makes you responsible for it and any and all repairs or maintenance it needs.

If you like privacy and don't mind maintaining the house and property a house is better. There are tax advantages also.

If you don't mind sharing walls and hearing your neighbors an apartment is better. You also don't have to worry about maintaining it too much, the owner takes care of that

Depends…children and pet is best suited for home. Apartments/townhome are cheaper than home but noisier. If it does not obliterate you financially then house will be more enjoyable. Credit, Criminal, Monthly income about 3x Rent, and landlord history

I think it would depend on the individual. If a person is single and living independently then apartment would be a better option.

I think a house is better. You don't have to deal with noisy neighbors or greedy landlords. It is a better investment than just collecting rent receipts.
