I absolutely love living in a house. Apartments are great and I live in a condo which is literally the same. But I grew up in a house and having a backyard for bbqs or a place to play in the winter without having to go to the park was amazing.

I lived in apartments for about 15 years in my teens and twenties when I was in college and for a while in between. It has some advantages. You don't have to be responsible for maintaining everything. That's a big advantage because I spend an awful lot of time just getting stuff fixed and taking care of my house.
But the downside is privacy. I don't think I could ever live in an apartment again for that reason. I have a nice large piece of property and the whole thing is fenced and gated. I could never do without the privacy again. Having people living right next to you and sharing walls with them is a thought that really makes me cringe today. The thought of opening your door and having strangers walking down a hallway right outside of it is a non-starter for me.
I think when you are young, like college age it probably has an advantage in terms of socializing. Kids are more flexible that way having just come out of a family situation with siblings living with them and so forth. But once you mature I think most people want their own place where they can have privacy and peace and quiet.

I lived in a Condo here , for 6 years , and its a holiday location , so the problem was the transient crowd , and all these lizards on holiday , made things difficult. Anyhow , now I've moved into a smaller historic house which is still centrally located.
So , if its my choice , taking all into account , I prefer a house , I'd kinda like a pool villa but they are all too far out , and that brings in another dimension.

I lived in an high-rise apartment building in downtown St. Louis for two years and loved it! Everything I wanted and needed was within walking distance for the most part. Even the building I lived in had a small grocery store, restaurant and bar. Now, I live in the burbs and own a home. It's nice, because I have kids now and it's mine! I don't have to pay rent the rest of my life, only a ridiculous amount of property taxes. My wife is really proud of it too. It's not our first home but we actually built this one.
10 Reply 678 opinions shared on Other topic. House , I have lived in apartments and townhouses before , but owning a home is much better , mainly for my own privacy and I don’t have to worry about anyone up my ass , I bought a home that has privacy and barely any neighbors up on my ass , giving me freedom to pretty much do what I want , cuz sadly neighbors can be assholes as wellNot all of them but there is usually one or a few that can be. Everytime I lived in an apartment or town house , i had some asshole neighbor causing nonsense over the dumbest things , so when I bought my home, I made sure I had no neighbors close to me. And life has been more peaceful and content by doing that. Maintaining a home can be hard work but I prefer that over asshole neighbors lol

My wife and I love our house. It's on the side of a west-facing hill on our 30 acre property in a peaceful, rural area. It has the most amazing view. We have solar panels, our own well, a big garage, a small orchard of various fruit trees, herbs and veggie gardens, decorative gardens with flowers and bushes that attract bees and butterflies, .
Birds, deer and other animals come around. No bears or mountain lions.
And the mortgage payments are way less than a small apartment.
It makes me soooo happy.12 Reply- 1 mo

House. All. The. Way
yes it sucks to mow my yard every week in the spring or fix a broken roof. But it’s mine. I can change things the way I want. I can have a pet and not have to pay tons of fees. I have a garage and shop to work on things. A room dedicated to music and art. Large tv and surround sound. No noisy or nosy neighbors…..

Well I want both, I would stay in a house
And rent the apartment, so will earn money without much of hardwork and stay a peaceful lifere-state//background_color_rgba (0, 0, 0, 0), font_color_rgb (77, 77, 77), justifyLeft10 Reply - 1 mo
I'd prefer a house. I'm not against apartments in any way, but I would prefer my own space with no loud neighbors upstairs or downstairs.

At least with a house they don't keep raising your rent until you cannot afford to live there. Apartments around here are more than my house payment.
10 Reply - 1 mo
i mean if i could afford a house, i'd go for house every time. no questions asked. but it is hella expensive these days tho. at least if you're not living far in the back country or in some third world country.

Apartment because I don't have the time to do maintenance because of my business. I make good money I don't have the time to do anything.

JWs creeping around your yard? That’s a new proselytizing technique. Lol

@mobiusforniner They have been coming around for decades.

yes, but they usually knock the front door. Snooping around a yard is a quick invitation to be greeted with old bessy. No matter if they have the watchtower or not. Lol

Apartments are just ghettos. I've never lived in one where I enjoyed being a part of the community.

Apartment. Homeownership is a lot of work and more expensive than renting an apartment. re-state//background_color_rgba (0, 0, 0, 0), font_color_rgb (77, 77, 77), justifyLeft

A house, no one is on top of you or on the sides of you, it’s an asset and you have tax deductions for it. Renting is a waste with nothing to show for it afterwards
10 Reply The endgame us the house. The meantime is the apartment

Why?

@PrettyCrumblBb why am I moving? because I want to live at a colder place
why would I get an apartment first? to make 100% sure I would want something more permanent at that particular spot, lol - 1 mo
Yeah I was asking why to the second one lol
- 1 mo
@PrettyCrumblBb I can rent for a while, and experience first hand how it actually is living there... and I end up liking liking it, then I might buy a place of my own
