How to control yourself if very desperate for something?

Pain.

If I wanted somebody's chocolate, I try to take it and they slap me, now it is easier to control myself.

I usually take few actions to relax and calm my mind:
1) take long breaths. Every breath has to be longer than the others and there has to be a brief phase of apnea;
2) distract yourself. Do some exercise, try to stay away from the phone or the objects reminding you the thing. Force your mind to stay away… for example: do 4 series of squats, than you can watch mobile for 1 min, then another 4 series…;
3) have a positive attitude. Give yourself the possibility to change your mind, take a walk, talk with a friend, set your mind free. Go out with dear and trusted friends that make your mind lighter and happier.

For me, I'll distract myself on that thought of desperately wanting something. Distract yourself from that thought. You'll forget about it, but not permanetely.
