Who else also has a Photographic Memory? Am I alone here?

I seem to have kind of a weird brain. I am able to remember things that most folks probably do not. I have memories of being a baby and things I did back when I was one. I also remember everything ( Like, weird details! ) from my childhood all the way up to now. I am 56 years old and Left Handed. That seems to make all the difference and I am trying to figure out why. I have always chosen and followed the Left path in Life and am somewhat of a loner because of it. It is a Right Hand dominated world that we live in.

Another term used for Photographic Memory is Eidetic Memory. Wiki tries to claim it doesn't exist and is not proven. They haven't met me, apparently. Or anyone else that truly has the ability, as I know I am not alone. It may be rare, but it does indeed exist.

I am sure some people would probably get highly irritated by me. That's one of the reasons I have always been a loner. Still am. One thing my now deceased mother used to tell me all the time was: Be Yourself! Be who you truly are with no regrets. It was excellent advice and I did so. Thanks for the reply, by the way.

Yep, you're right but I try to share rather than "you're wrong people-think it said". It is helpful with grocery lists, accounting ledgers, code etc.

Oh nice! I find it so weird that I can remember almost everything, especially things I did as a toddler, then little kid, then to teenager and finally adult. If I went on Jeopardy or some game show like that, I know I would win it because of the Photographic Memory thing. I know that probably sounds horridly conceited but it's the truth. I am often puzzled by it because other people I ask do not have the same kind of memories and don't remember all the details like I do. I have actually gone to a Psychiatrist because it's so weird to me! She had heard of it but hadn't met anyone that really had one until me! That kind of freaked me out even more. So yeah... still somewhat puzzled and often think I am probably an 'alien' or something. Lmao! It is totally boss that you have one too! I haven't met anyone else that has the ability, so it is nice to finally know I am not alone.

That is truly kool! by the way... are you left or right handed? I am curious about this and really want to figure it out some day. There is a definite difference between left and right handed folks. I know us Lefties use the opposite brain hemisphere than Right handed people, so that is one difference but there's a lot more that goes with it and that is what I want to figure out. Someone, somewhere has to have done a study on this at some point. Or, one would think. Or, maybe we are both Aliens, Marianna! Lmao... that would be so kool. We would be Aliens but still look like Humans enough to pass and not get found out!

Right on. It's a kool ability to have and to use. What book are you reading by memory, right now? I wish I had the same abilities that Edgar Cayce had. Just sleep with the book under your pillow and all the info will be in your mind in the morning, kind of thing! That man was incredible. I am very interested in him too. Thanks for the reply.

Oh okay, kool! I actually read the whole Stephen King 'Tower' series not too long ago for the 6th time. But in that case, I read the actual books since I enjoy that series so very much. I still have it running through my head all the time. I am really not sure what type of memory I have. Photographic or Eidetic or a mix of both. Also, according to Wiki, adults aren't supposed to have the ability. They are quite wrong, of course. I would happily submit to testing if there was ever a study done on it. I have some psychic ability as well but it isn't as 'pronounced' as my Eidetic/Photographic Memory.

Yes! I get that too but it consists of memories that happened when I was little and all the way up to today. Mostly ones of when I was a kid and weird things that I did back then. I see it in my mind like a film playing. It is very trippy and a bit bizarre but I am quite used to it by now. I was a very odd child. I know my parents would happily agree if they were still around. I think of the things I asked them when I was little and see the whole thing play out in my mind too. It happens to me with all my memories, and not only the little kid ones. Off I go onto the Left hand path again!

Yes, it is. Lol! Luckily for me, mine are rarely bad. Just bizarre and often a bit colourful too. Colours can be very bright in my memory-films. Also, I never, ever have nightmares or bad dreams at all. That only happens to me if I sleep on my back! Yes. If I sleep on my back, I will have nightmares. So, I never sleep on my back. Only on my right side. Very rarely on my left side. I have some pretty tripped out dreams though! I really ought to keep a dream journal, methinks.
