Long ago, my brother and I played the same exact prank on the same house, same person. I'm just one year older than him; I was 14 at the time and he was 13. The one we pranked was in his mid teens, in HS. The reaction was different. Why the difference if we played the same prank?
When I did it:
I got told off, how it's not funny, to seek attention elsewhere and get a life.
When my brother did it:
He got chased out of the property, got told bad names and said he'll catch him next time.

I was seen as a boring attention seeker and the guy seemed rather annoyed. When my brother did the same exact prank, the guy was pissed off and chasing him out of the property; he was seen as a jerk, a meddling kid you want to chase.
