I typically get anywhere from 5 and a half to almost 7 hours. I go to bed around 9:30 but never fall asleep right away. I wake up at 5am, stare at the ceiling, hate that I’m awake, promise myself to fall asleep when I get home (which never happens), Take a 10 minute shower, get dressed, put my contacts in, brush my teeth, use my deodorant, go back to my room, look at my bed in disgust that my fitted sheet yet again came off my bed, possibly shove a small amount of food in my face, then go to work.
I’m up late most nights. I’m a high energy person. My work schedule has also changed a lot this year. I’m in the process of training my replacement. This is due to the fact the my desire is to split time between two countries after I’m married at the end of the year.
I will take on more of a support role at my job, rather than a lead. So, after a good while of training my replacement, I’m more or less just supervising someone doing my work. It’s like watching paint dry. Therefore, I don’t go into work until afternoons since she doesn’t need my help on most things anymore.
I get about 7 hours of sleep. My morning routine is another story. It is get up and get moving. I typically take FOREVER to get myself looking decent if I’m going into work. You can interpret “forever” how you wish. I shower or take a bath. Then it is wrap towel around hair and put on lotion. Too much info yet?
Okay, so then I’ll put on what little makeup I wear. Doesn’t take much time for that. Deodorant, perfume. Then I brush my hair and try to get that tamed the best I can. Blow dry, straighten (most days) and presto! About 25% done. Off to the bedroom to choose an outfit. Now, I’ve already chosen one the night before, but it isn’t good enough now.
I have to go back through my wardrobe and readjust. I put on a top…. wait…. this won’t do. Try again. Ok, finally found something that I like. Go back to bathroom. Damn it! I don’t like the way this looks now I see it in the mirror. Go change. That’s better.
Brush teeth and take one last look. Okay. Good to go. Now off to have some fruit for breakfast.
If you can believe it, this is an abbreviated version of what really happens, highlighting the biggest time wasters. The struggle is real.

My job takes a lot out of me. So I really need rest. My body is like clock work, by 9:30-10:00 I need to go to bed. By 10:30 I’m out. I get up 5:30. Out of the house by 6:00. So pretty intense work/life schedule.
I sleep like a pig so I do feel great throughout the day at work..
I work evening shift so I get home around 1am. I go to bed at 2 and get up at 10. But I'm a light sleeper so it takes me a while to fall asleep and stay asleep. I never get the full 8 hours through the work week. I sleep until 11:30 or later on weekends to make up for it.
Sometimes my work is such a B- that I may get 2 hours. Other times I get as much as 5. I'm either going to die or retire at 40... It is what it is !!
