Is this a date or no?

So a friend have been arguing about his use of word "date" for context, he'd meet with some girls he knew as they did their thing whether it's shop or something like that then right after they would have sex because that's the main reason they called him out. I've been trying to tell him that's not technically a date then he throws in the fact that couples (he is S I N G L E) have sex after their dates. I try to explain it to him that it's completely different because the COUPLES are in a relationship. Is it a date if someone goes with the other person but one person expects sex after it? Why or why not?

Yeah it's totally a date, a date doesn't have to be strictly like dinner or coffee or a movie or going to a theater or whatever. A date is just when two people spend some time together, hanging out with the intention of finding intimacy or romance.

Not all dates end in sex though, I would say most dates very early on in a relationship between two people are them trying to determine if they have any chemistry for a long-term relationship or if they just have the chemistry for a short-term fling or a friends with benefits relationship because they know they're not going to be two people who would be good together long term.

Oh no, yes what he is doing is going on dates, weird shitty dates but he's getting laid so they are very successful.

You don’t have to agree on what a “date” is. You’re right for you, and he’s right for him.
I’ll do you one better though. He’s NOT single if he’s seen any woman or women more than once AND plans to see them again. He’s in at least one relationship if that’s the case, albeit very casual. But that’s MY definition.
We’re allowed to set our own boundaries and define our own terms for dating, sex, love and life. It’s not our place to set those boundaries and terms for others, even when we are in a relationship with them.

If you're not in some kind of relationship, sounds like s "sex" date: Friends with Benefits kind of thing. They're hanging out and then you're banging out! Not a date.

A date is more formal. You decide to do something nice together, not simply accompany someone doing a task such as shopping, washing their car, doing the laundry. or running errands.

You plan to see a film, have lunch, go to a museum, a concert: usually, it's some kind of entertainment. The goal isn't ALWAYS to have sex. Mostly, it is to share the company , conversation and day of someone you enjoy being with.

If the goal is ONLY sex, it's not a date.

It is a date, not a romantic date per say but they do have a relationship, of sorts. A date could simply be hanging out and talking and nothing more beyond that.

There are different types or kinds of dates so its really up to the people in my opinion to decide if it is a date or not.

T h seems less like a date more like errands with a casual encounter after or just spending time with them almost like a friend before. Not sure if it's enough to call a date. At best it's kinda in between.

Dunno how it is now but a date didn't used to include sex. Not to say it didn't happen, just that it wasn't a prerequisite. You were trying to get to know the other person without taking your clothes off
