Aww I wish I had a cat.
Well actually funny story. Before I was born it was just my 2 older sisters and my parents. They decided to get a cat but the younger of the 2 older sisters (is actually disabled) and she was obsessed with the cat and wouldn't stop touching it. Cats aren't the most touchy so it ran away from her just to avoid her and always stayed under a bed in a room. I guess some time later they opened the door and smelled poo and it was so gross. Turns out the cat pooed so much under the bed and even after cleaning the room it stunk for weeks. They gave that darn cat away to someone else. Who knows if they suffered also lol. Good riddance!
Nah, Ms. Vicky (my cat) chased anything that got too near to her, but she never caught anything. I think she just loved being left the hell alone. So if anything got into her comfort zone, then she would chase it away. But she never killed anything!
Besides, after she saw a documentary on meat processing, she told me she wished she was a veterinarian, but I didn’t speak cat very well, so I thought she said vegetarian, which would make more sense given the subject matter of the documentary. Then I wanted to respect her so I only fed her carrots an lettuce after that… she sadly starved to death!

awww rip
Thanks 😘

My dog catches more critters than the cats do... she will take a flying leap at the perfect time to get a bird that is swooping down at her to get her away from the nest... and grab it mid air.
Squirrels, lizards, fish (when by water) and even burrow under ground to get rodents.
I used to keep track of her kills but gave up after a few hundred.
The cats do occasionally get them, but they seem too lazy.
Now there is this annoying brown rabbit that seems to have out smarted them all.
Yes, my cats are veteran hunters. I think most cats are. I like that they're controlling my rat problem. They also routinely hunt anole lizards and cicadas.
BUT!!
I do NOT like that they have also killed some of the local birds. So far, I've had the displeasure of having to clean up the half-eaten carcasses of cardinals, blue jays, grackles and woodpeckers. This hurts me to the core because birds are my favorite animals... and it is mostly my fault for leaving cat food outside, which tempts birds to risk their lives for an easy snack.
So yeah.
Fierce hunters indeed...
Yea. It just cats being cats.
The neighbor cat was originally an indoor cat. Same cats just aren't indoor types. Eventually he got out so much that the owner gave up trying to keep him inside. At first he didn't know how to be a cat and couldn't hurt worth a crap. Eventually he started to learn how to be a cat and got better at it.
I know a lot of people don't like seeing cats catch prey. But that's what cats do. It's part of nature.
On the other hand, cats are considered one of the worst invasive species in the world. In some parts of the world feral cats are completely devastating the natural ecosystem. I think they have single handedly been responsible for some extinctions.
Yes… He was proud of it too.
Would you let your cat eat the mouse? (Active situation) Help please?
he was saying 'thank you' meowwww
He’s caught a wasp and some rogue roaches at one point. I want to get a bird one day but he likes death too much like I can’t give him anything with a feather attached to it otherwise I won’t get it back for a while. He actually starts pulling and growling.
I live on a farm and have barn cats... Their diet in the spring summer and fall primarily consists of what they catch and kill... They get fed a decent portion ever other day, but they let most of their food get eaten by the possums. In the winter they are fed far more, but then, there are fewer things for them to hunt.
My cat (my actual cat) hasn't. The closest she has gotten was with mice and she just either observe them or play with their half-dead bodies. Same with Luna but she actually kills them.
Luna is my profile picture by the way, I didn't mean to call her out like that but she is brutal with smaller animals.
She''s so beautiful!
@Blackcosmo thank you lol, I usually use her to pratice my photography so her being pretty helps a lot.
Nice!
Charley Farley is a real hunter. A 7 kilo monster. He keeps the complex clear of mice, and catches a bird just about every week. He even tried a squirrel, but that was way too fast for him.
Is he a Maine Coon cat?
@Guardian45 No. Just a black and white moggy. He was an abandoned stray until we took him in.
My two cats are great at catching mice, chipmunks, birds, frogs, & my one car even likes to catch & bring me LIVE snakes 🤣
We don't worry about rodents in or around my house
I remember one day I thought she was playing with a leaf so I got closer and she was playing with a small mouse and ate after 💀
My cat used to catch mice a lot and a bird once. She's older and too lazy now lol.
My ex cat was kept indoors and so only caught hairbands and paper balls. Miss the tiny bastard.
We had a cat one time killed a hamster and that was all sadly he ran away from home.
No, my cat remains indoors at all times. She gets enjoyment out of stalking the occasional mouse that is foolish enough to come inside.
My dog used to catch cats, bats, this cat like creatures, mice a lot
My cat who stays outdoors a lot ripped the head off a rat and a bird and ate them
I don’t have a cat but my little spoiled shih tzu catched a baby bird one time and it lost its leg because of that and gradually died
I’m pretty sure Nala and Pretzel never have, but I think once my mom said she saw Louie hunting. Either him or Baby Kitty.
So far it has caught, mice, birds, rats and even a rabbit at some point.
I use to have a cat that caught everything that came in the yard. Even crows !!
I have 9 cats in my garden and yes sometimes they're hunting birds.
Nature
Yup, moles, voles and snakes too
Wow snakes? Thst be cool if he caught those
Goldfish owner passing by.
Our cats are only indoors, they only catch treats.
