Have you ever picked up a stray cat?

I "saved" a cat from a bad snowstorm we had on the weekend. The cat has a collar, obviously he/she has or had an owner, and I have seen this cat in my backyard many times before, so he or she is lost and has been for some time. It's a tabby, very cute, and I have put him in a bedroom that no one uses but my other cat. So--I have tried posting him as a lost cat on some platforms--no luck. I have someone who is asking friends and family if they want him.

He is fine,--but at night he becomes very vocal and begins to cry. If I go in and lie down on the bed, he instantly climbs on me and purrs, which is not what I am used to with my own cat. He is larger and his little claws can be sharp if I'm not careful. He comes right up to my neck and wants me to pet him, and honestly it is not comfortable for me because he is large and heavier than my smaller cat.

I am going to try to put him up for adoption because I have my own cat, who he has seen from outside but has never been in her presence (she is afraid of him or her), and he has also been clawing at the rug there at the door entrance. There are some cat adoption places by me that do not put the pets down, unlike some.

Have you done this before? What was the result?
