Has your cat ever gone missing?

I was away for the night and sometime between then and when I got back the next afternoon, she “disappeared”. My roommate reported not seeing her at all and we checked everywhere. My only thought is that she went outside. She’s an indoor cat but gets curious about going outside, especially because we moved on the first and she is seeing cats outside. She got fixed about a month ago.
I put food in front of the window so I can look for her overnight. And then I’ll look in the area tomorrow near neighbor’s houses. It just sucks and do you have any advice on how to find her? Do you think she’s alive? Will I find her?

She was outside near the food laying down with another cat but they ran away when we opened the window. I’m trying to find them on foot but it’s midnight.

She went to lay down in front of the window again by herself but ran off when I approached. I don't know how to make a trap and it’s 1 in the am

A friend moved city and one of the cats - the pyshco one - ran off. It came back a year later. Worse for wear, skinnier but ok. So I think you will find her - they know where home is. Put up notices with her pic of course.

Does she have a chip to identify her?

When you walk around tap a food can. Tuna in spring water is tempting. My cat would make prison breaks but could be lured back by tuna. She'll be hungry.

She might not be outside - look in every cupboard etc but she would have turned up most likely.

I think your cat has a romantic interest.

My tabby - on his prison break outs - would not want to be caught. He would gallop away whenever I got to close but fortunately he was a sucker for tuna. Most quadrupeds can run at about 30 miles an hour and cats are no exception so you cannot run them down.

At least she is returning - maybe put a cardboard box out? Cats like boxes and maybe she might feel chilly.

Here we have possum traps here and I think something like that would work if baited with a food she liked. The trap is actuated by the food being eaten. The classic trap of a box propped up by a stick on a string is not likely to work. You might have to wait a long time to yank the string.

Maybe your local pound catchers could advise?

Sorry to hear, even my male cat went missing and was never seen. He was a real big Tom Cat. He would fight for days with the other toms and they come back all bitten. Even after we go him neutered it made no difference he still fought and would got out for a week sometimes. But then once in May he went and did not return. It's very painful when you don't have closure. It's horrible, all you can do is pray, put posters, go and check in ur animal shelter, thats all u can do. Very sorry for you. I will pray for your cat.

Place the litter box outside your door.(cats can smell their own odor from over a mile away)


At least once a day, call your cat’s name VERY loudly outside and wait at least 10 minutes.


Check your local shelters daily.


Typically when cats go missing they do not go further than 200 yards from their home. They find a place to hide and stay there.


Be sure to check inside and under any nearby sheds.

Go stay outside and call her gently.

If she has treats that you can shake, that will help.

It’s the opening of the door/window that’s frightening her, so you already being outside will fox that.

I found someone who had one of these

Then put food down near it at first get the cat use to eating in that same spot (in case I was hoping he was the one eating the food cuz I never saw him once while he was missing) then I put the food in the trapped and cover the trap with a towel because it would a cat feel safer and make a cat more curious too. And presto I caught my cat!

Did you find your cat?
I forgot to mention I rented mine for a local animal group. I gave them a deposit and they gave me the trap. When I returned the trap the gave me my money back with a suggestion of possibly leaving a donation 😉...
I don't know if any place does something like that where you are but it mayne worth checking into your local pet rescues/shelters for help

My cat was missing for 2 or 3 days. He accidently got locked in my next door neighbor's garage. Their daughter heard him crying and brought him over. The cat just went over to where his food was and had a nice meal and took a nap.

I hope your cat comes back. He probably will when he gets hungry enough.

My cousin had a cat get out on them recently. It came back home recently. Cats have good instincts, she should be ok for a while.
