A few cats on base and never really had experience with cats until this deployment.

I’ve always been a dog-person or so I thought

This new cat you see pictured recently has been staying around where I keep watch. She’s super friendly and is not shy towards me.

I’d be sitting and chilling and she’d jump on me and rub herself against me.

There’s a few strays here aside from her as well

I always try to replenish any water bowls when I’m working. I think others feed these animals as well.

So, I’ve named her “Orange Death.”

“O. D” is usually how I address her when I see her or when I call out to her because she may be on the roof or something

I prefer cats because they require much less attention than dogs. I currently have only one cat who I have adopted. He was living at this house when I arrived four years ago. He sleeps on my enclosed back porch at night, or when the weather is cold or wet; otherwise, he patrols outside and I never see small varmints on the property! His name is Thunder!

I love cats! My cousin knows how to tame cats as he had them as pets before so I enjoy when he comes over to my home and we both play with street cats.

More of a dog person, but I don't mind cats. Cats usually like me and just come to chill if I am sitting down in their vicinity out of curiosity.

If that orange cat is indeed female, then she's pretty rare. Only 20% of orange cats are female.

I had cats and fish as a kid and teenager, but no pets now.

had cats around the hootches on my deployments but didn't let them inside. is there an inoculation/disease control program? have someone send you a flea collar or two.
we also had a jackal in iraq but he only came around at night.
