Has your workplace ever tried any tactics to bring in customers?

The restaurant I work at is having a grand reopening on the 23rd of next month. This comes after the heels of hiring a new General manager back in July after the old GM quit. This old GM ran off a lot of customers (including a lot of regulars) and employees who she often fired for trivial reasons including trying to get her in trouble after she did some shady stuff including leaving to get her nails done for 3-4 hours while we were in the weeds. After she quit the new GM took over and business has rebounded. So now we are doing this grand reopening with specials, ribbon cutting, and having the local radio station come out and do a promotional on location broadcast to try to bring in customers on a Friday (which in the South is High school football night). I feel like yes it's a good idea but also something that could be desperate.
