What's the most useful manual tool in your toolbox?

Question

A toolbox should have a collection of various tools in it, at least one of each of the tools listed in this poll.

But what is the most useful tool to have in the toolbox? In other words, if you only had one of these tools with you, which one would be the most useful?

The screwdriver. It's probably used as much as all the others combined.

I think second place is a tie between a wrench and tape measure. A wrench is more versatile than a tape, but nothing else can substitute for a tape when you need one.

Hammer is next. It's useful for when your computer doesn't work - you just smash it to smithereens. You can also drive nails with it and get stubborn things to move. It's also good for straightening and flattening things.

Saw. They aren't used much by most people. But when you need to cut wood it sure beats a butter knife or an axe.

Pliers. I very rarely find these useful. They are only good when things are very loose. Needle nosed pliers are the ones I use the most, but I can always use tweezers. I put pliers last mainly because there is usually a better alternative.

I keep all those in the tool box on the back of my truck in addition to a crowbar and much more don’t keep a saw back there though.

But probably the most useful are wrenches or pliers for me since I can’t always find the right size for what I need at work so I’ll grab one from my tool box from time to time. When I need to open up legs, work on a mill or whatever.

Tape measure is also useful for when I’m repairing pallets and need to cut boards.

though I plan on adding a grinder, drill and electric saw in there among other things just so I have whatever I need whenever something comes up.

A screwdriver. You can open paint tins, chisel with it, punch holes in stuff , wiggle in holes to unblock drains etc, use it as a lever, you can even use it to tighten and remove screws

For me, it's a 6-in-1 screwdriver. I rarely get through a workday without using it.

My whole van is just a big toolbox on wheels, and I have a lot of different tools, but the screwdriver is the most-used. Second most used is probably my cordless drill, which is often driving or removing screws as well.

I voted hammers. They are a great self defense weapon. And……. If you can’t fix it with a hammer. You can take out your frustrations and make sure that whatever you are working with will never work again!
In reality. They all have their purpose depending on what you may be doing at the time!

Screwdriver.  I use it to fix fans, doors, my computer, etc. You can use it to fight robbers too...

The crescent wrench is the winner for me. It is a multi-sized wrench, can be both metric or English and is multi purpose: wrench, hammer, pry bar and has a bending feature.

Well I'd call it a 12 inch shifter. You can undo most nuts badly but it is heavy enough to whack things with so doubles as a bad hammer. Bad at all things but versatile.
