If a girl was bullied about being ugly as a child does she grow up putting too much importance on physical appearance and perfection?

My cousin was always bullied for being ugly and scrutinised to the tiniest of details for her appearance.

She grew up to develop eating disorders and body dysmorphia and now is so preoccupied and obsessed with being perfect and the most beautiful that it affects her ability to function.

She can’t leave the house because she feels ugly some days when she is looking fine. She feels the need to prove a point that she is the best looking without makeup and filters and she prefers to be appreciated for her looks than her personality.

Is this a condition one can heal from? Is it a form of narcissism or something else?
