Is it normal that my dog randomly started eating kibble after 4 years of hating it?

Yes.
Animals are funny.
One of my cats will eat the crap out of 1 canned food, then one day he would rather starve to death before he will eat it again.
And in a couple months he is eating it again.
Go figure.

Maybe wanted something different. My dog doesn’t do well with kibble so after trying various different brands and seeing the same result I switched him to a different diet.

Yeah, he probably just wanted something different. I always mix up my cat's food to keep things exciting.

Every body changes with age. Maybe he craves something now his body needs?

Poor dog change the food up I did it all the time with my dog they like different things a variety of different foods, the dog probably had no choice but to eat or starve

I'd say so. My dog would have "moods" when she wouldn't eat a certain thing for a few months, then suddenly "re-like" it.
